HomeMy WebLinkAboutresolution.council.029-01 RESOLUTION NO. 29 Series of 2001 A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING THREE (3) POLLING PLACES FOR THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD MAY 8, 2001, AND THE RUNOFF ELECTION TO BE HELD JUNE 5, 2001, IF NECESSARY, AND SETTING FORTH THE LOCATION OF THOSE PRECINCTS WHEREAS, the City Council ("Council") of the City of Aspen, Colorado (the "City") in the County of Pitkin and State of Colorado, a municipal corporation duly organized and existing as home rule city pursuant to Article XX of the Colorado Constitution, will conduct a general municipal election, pursuant to Section 2.2 of the Aspen Home Rule Charter, on Tuesday, May 8, 2001; and WHEREAS, Section 2.7 of the Aspen Home Rule Charter, establishes a runoff election for the offices of Mayor or Council to be held in the same manner as the municipal election; and WHEREAS, Council has determined that the use of three (3) polling places for said general municipal election will maximize the convenience of the voters; and having the same polling place for the runoff election will assure consistency. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO: Section 1 The Council has determined that, solely for purposes of the general municipal election to be held May 8, 2001, and the runoff election to be held June 5, 2001, if necessary, there shall be three (3) polling places at the following locations: Polling Place 1 - Precincts 1 and 2 - Aspen Youth Center, 455 Rio Grande Place Polling Place 2 - PrecinCts 4 and 6 - Common Ground HoUsing - 701 Independence Place Polling Place 3 - Precincts 5 and 7 ~ First Baptist Church - 726 West Francis Dated: c.~/_~:~z: 5:J~9 /' Rachel'E~ I, Kathryn S.
