Excused where Mark Goodman, John Starr and Roger Haneman. Public Comments: Emzy Benazy III Posted food facility ratings. Emzy pointed out that transfat decrease heart disease. .5 grams of transfat is the norm. We need to look at food facilities and try to do something that New York does. Look at the ingredients and if it is not listed they need a letter from the supplier letting them know what the transfat percentage is. These are trends that are happening in the food industries and we need to be at the forfront of it. Nicholas. Sutacliffe presented a snap shot of a business he would like to get involved with in Aspen. It is a mobile concessio~hse end lackaof foode Local night and at the Saturday market. Andrew said the Red Onion will be open 12:00 to 2:00 a.m. but they aren't going to be finished with construction until January. D-19 and Dish might be open. Bill said in the winter we talked about roasting chestnuts etc. on the mall. Bill asked if a special event could be for four months. Bill pointed out that it is very expensive to recover your cost late at night. You never know who will be stumbling around. This business has a very low overhead. This is a great opportunity and low overhead. Andrew suggested the RFTA bus station at night. We want to serve everyone up and down the valley. Fred said there is a need for food at the bus stop..The popcorn wagon used to have late night service so there is a need. Terry said Steve runs a really good small business and it needs to grow. Mitch Haas said there is a code issue. The idea is to put retail on the ground floor and grooming on the upstairs floor. MOTION: Bill moved that CCLC whole heartedly endorses the opportunity for the service as presented by Steve; second by Fred. All in favor, motion carried. S-0. Don said this will be a tough fight. It is similar to a laundry over a store. Don said maybe it is the water usage and that it presents a dirty thing similar to dog excretion on the mall. Terry said CCLC tries to think out of the box. Fred said Don has a valid issue. Fred suggested to the applicant that they have a comprehensive plan. Mitch pointed out that restaurants use a lot of water. Andrew said there was groomer in New York and we e nghe window e window. People would walk by to see what dog getting groomed. Al in favor, motion carried. 5-0 Don also suggested that Steve get support from the neighbors. Andrew suggested the applicant have a backup plan and know where you are going to send the dog for the evening in case the owner doesn't make it back. Andrew said the winter might be tougher. Fred commented that it is a total success. Terry asked the board what they have heard in the downing of the economy. Fred said he hasn't heard anything but with the economy we will be coming out of it slower. Andrew said locally people are cutting back on advertising. They are all cutting back on advertising and don't feel their business will be hurt. Bill said he just came back from South Dakota, a resport that draws people from all over the country. There is a 30% drop in the complex. This may reflect what might happen here. Don commented that the glass is half full. There is much fear out there. His advertising is very strong. Fred said as we get closer to the holidays we will see more advertising and more deals on pricing and meals. Terry said usually at this time I have half of XMb entalkind to as manys book late. I have two paid reservations. I hav g business in town as I can. Ritz Calton has not one single client. The St. Regis is way down, the Jerome is way down and so is the Little Nell. SAS counts for 10% of my business. I am sending out p clients a 30%l reduction getting on the telephone and offering for my repeat in rooms. I am extremely concerned as I am a small business. Parking Meters: Don would like to know why parking is collecting money on Sunday? They can program the machines so that they don't take the money.
