HomeMy WebLinkAboutresolution.council.112-08RESOLUTION NO. 112 (Series of 2008) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO, ACKNOWLEDGING AND EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO THE PITKIN COUNTY CLERK AND HER STAFF WHEREAS, Pitkin County had more than 10,000 voters request ballots this year including more than 4,000 mail in ballots and, WHEREAS, More than 2,000 voters joined the voting rolls and or updated their registrations and, WHEREAS, the rules for registration, voting and tracking changes in registration are more complicated than ever and the state required all clerks to switch to yet another computer system and, WHEREAS, the ballot was a mind numbing four pages long with 18 state referenda and initiatives and the clerk needed 19 different ballot styles to correspond to Aspen, Snowmass and Pitkin County voters; and, WHEREAS, our clerk and her staff have earned a reputation for clean, honest and transparent elections the provide all citizens with an opportunity to vote and have their ballots counted promptly and accurately NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF ASPEN, COLORADO,THAT: The efforts of public servants working nights and weekends on behalf of the citizens are sometimes taken for granted. The City Council of the City of Aspen commends, commiserates with and congratulates the Pitkin County Clerk and her stalwart staff for their long hours and non-partisan work in registering voters and conducting the November 4, 2008 election BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That this resolution be presented to Janice Vos Caudill and her staff, Ryan Keith, Carole Twitchell, Linda Gustafson, Tammy Dawson, Shelley Popish, Janet Haas, Lindee Dean, Jeanette `,, Jones, Roselyn Martin, Rex Hockins with gratitude and thanks.
