Staff: Kathty Strickland, Chief Deputy City Clerk Downtown entertainment: Andrew said he is going to City Council through the CCLC to request funds for summer entertainment for 2009. We raised $5,000 and council will match it 3-1. Three of the council members gave a verbal agreement. There will be four areas. Music act areas will be at the clock tower and Hyman Galena corner. Kids acts will be at the fountain and near the information booth. Entertainment will be Wednesday through Saturday. Market Update: Andrew said Kathy and I decided to go with the Daily News guide and the Friday time out section. Due to the economics of our town we are trying to pull in tourists and the inserts are the best tourist base. We will do one color in the guide and 4 colors in the Time out section. We didn't have enough money and the ACRA will enhance our advertising after Labor Day. Andrew pointed out that market vendors wrote nasty letters etc. to the ACRA which were inappropriate. Kathy will send out an e-mail to all vendors requesting that they send all correspondence to her. Kathy said the Berko's want to sell their calendar at the market. The board suggested they work through anon-profit, AVSC. One of the Berko's need to be present in the booth and donate a portion to the non-profit. Andrew said he needs a tent and 2 tables and 2 chairs for the market. Kathy said the market has two extra tables and a tent that the non-profit can use. Bill said we need 3 clickers in order to determine how many people come through the market. Also check with the Police Dept. to see how they count crowds. Fred said the agriculture vendors profit by the increased traffic in the market and that should be our advertising goal. COMMERCIAL CORE & LODGING COMMISSION MINUTES OF MAY 20, 2009 Kathy mentioned that the agriculture vendors would like some radio spots. Andrew said only the locals listen to the radio and they already know that the market exists and the hours. Possibly we can do a partnership with radio station and do some advertising. Bill said people in cars already know the market is happening. He agreed with Andrew that radio is not effective. Andrew suggested we use the lady with the sandwich board if we have the funding. Also we could put some posters in coffee shops. Bill said some of the funding should be used to find out how many people come into the market. Bill brought up the idea of a Paonio wine representation for the future. Andrew said he will talk to Kevin Doyle to see if he is interested in setting it up. CCLC said at the next meeting we need to put together a list of suggestions, ideas for our work session with council. Meetipg adjourned at 10:30 a.m. Kathleen J. Strickland, Chief Deputy Clerk
