HomeMy WebLinkAboutresolution.hpc.022-2009RESOLUTION OF THE ASPEN HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION (HPC) RECOMMENDING THAT THE CITY OF ASPEN ENFORCE SECTION 26.510 OF THE ASPEN MUNICIPAL CODE, SIGNS RESOLUTION NO. 22, SERIES OF 2009 PARCEL ID: N/A. WHEREAS, Aspen Municipal Code Section 26.510 regulates signage within the City of Aspen; and, WHEREAS, the Aspen Historic Preservation Commission expressed concern over the excessive number of sandwich board signs within the Commercial Core Historic District; and, WHEREAS, at their regular meeting on December 9, 2009, the Historic Preservation Commission discussed the impact of sandwich boards on the Commercial Core Historic District pedestrian experience and the existing sign regulations in the Aspen Municipal Code. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That HPC recommends by a vote of 7 to 0 that the City of Aspen enforce Aspen Municipal Code Section 26.510, Signs with the following conditions: 1. HPC recommends that the City record each sign violation. 2. Staff will bring this issue back to HPC in June, 2010 for follow up discussions.
