12 Days of Aspen update
Julie Hardman, ACRA representative pointed out that she and Steve
Jaworski from the Parks hung the banner at the clock tower. The first of the
12 days of Aspen event is Sunday. There is a new paper event update
running every day and next week in both papers. It is the calendar that is
being distributed to all hotels and motels etc. in a smaller version.
Andrew suggested not double booking in both papers. I would suggest the
full calendar put in the paper once or twice a week near the end of the week
because that is when everyone is in town.
Fred said he would have liked to have seen the calendar more festive with
green added. We are getting more politically correct and we are missing the
point.
Julie said to compensate the banner is done in green. It was too late to
change the brochures.
Andrew said he likes the title. They have had good pickup on the web. The
city logo should have been in the brochure but it will be in the ads.
Andrew and Fred requested a recap after the events are over on the cost of
everything.
Julie said she feels they were able to cram a lot in the budget for $7,100 for
events. There is $500 or $6001eft for last minutes events like hot chocolate.
Julie said Colorado printing did the brochure.
Julie said the total budget was $14,500. The design costs for the brochures
are expensive.

Terry said Colorado printing should give us a print cost outline for next year.
Fred said there are things we can improve on for next year.
Julie said she feels this is a great start.
Public Comments -Market expansion
Rosie Andrews representing Ross Andrews jewelers on the Hyman mall
said she would like to see the Saturday market go onto Hyman near Isberian
Rug Company.
Rosie suggested having the booths turned the other way to create more
traffic on the sides.
Rosie said she talked to tenants that use the parking lot on Hyman and many
of them have been going through the alley for 15 years.
Andrew said Boogie Weinglass who has a spot in the parking lot will park
somewhere else. He has no problem.
Fred said it is easy to drive through the alley into the parking lot.
Terry said in Santa Monica the tents face to the inside.
Andrew said people flow onto the street from the market.
Kathy said on Hyman you could leave the tents open on two sides.
Terry said connecting to the Hyman mall will have a lot of cross traffic.
Rosie said you won't need sandwich boards because the fountain is at the
end of Hyman and it will be working by summer.
Wil Hernandez from Mason Morse asked how far back from the Elks
building does the market start.
Kathy said she talked to the fire marshal and because the Elks Bldg. is 3
stories high the space in front has to be open for 30 feet.

Terry explained to Wil that Mason Morse can have an information booth out
in front and the booth fee would be waived.
Wil Hernandez said they are supportive of the market event.
Terry pointed out that the foot traffic is somewhere between 30 and 40
thousand people. The vendors in the market do extremely well.
Kathy relayed that she talked to Tom Griffith from Vectra bank. The bank is
not open on Saturdays but people still come to work. Tom would not want
music at the intersection of Hyman and Hunter due to people working
Saturdays. Tom also said he needs the ATM machine available because they
do a lot of business with the machine and it can't be blocked. As a
suggestion, possibly balloons could mark the machine.
Bill said he has serious doubts about council approving the expansion
without Ed Dingilian's support. Ed owns the parking lot, gallery and Little
Annie's.
Bill suggested Rosie, who has a business on the Hyman mall contact Ed and
explain the tragic of not expanding the market. It would bring a lot more
business into Little Annie's and other businesses on Hyman Ave and the
Hyman mall as well.
Andrew said he thinks the expansion will happen.
Terry said she and Andrew will draft a letter of support with signatures to be
signed by businesses in support of the expansion.
$200,000 committee stimulus allocation.
Bill gave an update from the committee and the suggestions.
