The Wheeler Opera House Is In The Festival Business!
FESTIVAL #1: THE ASPEN ROOFTOP COMEDY FESTIVAL
JUNE9-13
Now in our third year, the 2010 Aspen Rooftop Comedy Festival will be bigger and better than before,
with marquee-name stand-up comics performing alongside the best up-and-coming new comedy talent.
This year we will be branching out to Steve's Guitars in Carbondale, as well as sponsoring open-mic
aftershows in various nighttime venues in the Aspen's downtown core. We'll kick off the festival on
Wednesday, June 9, with a community barbeque at the Wheeler, so come and get involved!
FESTIVAL #2: MOUNTAINSUMMIT: MOUNTAINFILM IN ASPEN
AUGUST 26 - 29
Our second MountainSummit Festival will bring another exceptional weekend of award-winning
documentary films, social activists, and legendary adventurers to Aspen. Created in partnership with
Mountainfilm In Telluride, the Aspen festival recreates much of our partner's signature May festival
event, along with new films and artists that are unique to our Aspen event. Look for a special afternoon-
long symposium on Endangered Species. National Geographic and Eddie Bauer are the event's national
sponsors. Last year's festival included nearly twenty onsite artists and adventurers, including
mountaineers Ed Viesturs and lim Whittaker, land-rights activist Tim DeChristopher, and rock 'n roll
photographer Robert Knight.
FESTIVAL #3: 7908' SONGWRITERS CIRCLE, ASPEN COLORADO (7908' SCAC)
SEPTEMBER 16 -19
The Wheeler's newest festival is created in partnership with Songwriter Hall Of fame member John
Oates (of Hall & Oates), and who better to help bring big-name songwriting talent to Aspen? We are
aiming to make this festival stand out in several ways that will make it a wonderful destination product
for Aspen: Unique, one time combinations of songwriting talent on stage together; intimate
performance experiences at the Wheeler, Belly Up, and smaller stages around town (including a free
outdoor stage), and the casual experience of having this talent walking around in our downtown for a
long weekend.
