HomeMy WebLinkAboutresolution.council.081-10 A RESOLUTION OF THE ASPEN CITY COUNCIL EXTENDING THE ORDINANCE #48, SERIES OF 2007, NEGOTIATION FOR HISTORIC DESIGNATION OF 1102 WATERS AVENUE Resolution No. I , Series of 2010 WHEREAS, 1102 Waters Avenue, Lot 14, Calderwood Subdivision, City and Townsite of Aspen, Colorado, is subject to Ordinance #48, Series of 2007. This Ordinance identifies potential historic resources and creates a review process for any proposed alterations. The Ordinance also establishes a framework for City Council to negotiate with the property owner to secure voluntary historic designation; and WHEREAS, the owner of 1102 Waters Avenue, Susan Geary Griffin, Bonnie Geary Grenney, and William Scott Geary are in the process of said negotiation. The owner triggered the negotiation period by submitting an application for a voluntary historic designation, historic landmark lot split, and preservation benefits. Ordinance #48, Series of 2007, provides Council with a 90 day period to discuss the application. Council is to be provided with a recommendation about the historic significance of the resource from the Historic Preservation Commission; and WHEREAS, the 90 day negotiation period for 1102 Waters Avenue will expire on October 19, 2010; and WHEREAS, a public hearing cannot be scheduled before City Council until October 25, therefore staff and the property owner are in agreement that more time is needed, and an extension of the negotiation to November 22, 2010 is appropriate. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO: The negotiation period established by Ordinance #48, Series of 2007, as it affects the property at 1102 Waters Avenue, is hereby extended to November 22, 2010, the second regularly scheduled Council meeting in November.
