MINUTES OF OCTOBER 6, 2010
Chair - person, Terry Butler called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m.
Commissioners in attendance were: Andrew Kole and Don Sheeley. Bill
Dinsmoor, Mark Goodman, John Starr, Mark Zitelli and Fred Ayarza were
excused.
Tammy Barr — Mall performers
Tammy said they had a steady growth and people come and they had big
crowds. This is our second year of doing the kids program by the clock
tower. Buttons the clown performed; someone did a magic show, and we
had Betty doing hula hoops and face painting.
We had a trend of people coming and going and they would eat and then
come back.
A lot of people asked how is it that you are here and our response was that it
was from the courtesy of the City of Aspen.
Tammy suggested that some advertising occur next year "Wagner Park
Family Theatre ". Possibly do some advertising with Plum TV. If you say
presented by the City of Aspen people will come.
Kathy said she will discuss this with the city's PR person. The city has a
column and the Wagner Park Family Theatre could be added to the dates
they perform.
Tammy also asked about corporate sponsors. We can sell the program.
Andrew said it will be difficult to acquire corporate sponsors.
Andrew said there should be a budget for three years.
Tammy said they got $12,000 for the budget and that equates to $150. a
person. That is only a portion of our fees.
Terry said the CCLC doesn't want to lose our fall back money from the city
so we shouldn't request additional funds.
Tammy said she has had calls from performers around the country that are
interested in coming. As a suggested the gondola plaza with a comedian
might be a good idea.

Penny Ritchie, performer said they got rained out several times.
Tammy suggested checking into some kind of awning that would attach to
the bathroom walls that could be retractable.
Tammy addressed liability.
Tammy said Laurie who does kids glitz and glam was on the mall and her
concern is liability. She uses hair painting with chemicals.
Kathy said presently performers are allowed on the mall without a permit or
fee. The idea of liability insurance should be addressed.
Rebecca Hodgson said the CCLC came up with the idea and it is positive
and it is obviously a hit. Rebecca said she will check with Tom Rubel on the
awning idea. Usually if council supports the idea it will be approved for the
next year. It is not necessary to ask for a commitment for three years.
Tammy said there was a juggler from Boulder that did an unsafe show.
Tammy suggested that the CCLC come up with some kind of registration for
mall performers and somehow monitor performers on the mall. Mall
performers should have liability insurance and indemnify the city.
Tammy said the program is great and they would love to have it grow.
Public - MZBZ suggested a sales tax holiday during Columbus Day
weekend. At the council meeting Mick said it would be difficult to do
because some of the sales tax funding goes to the state. MZBZ suggested a
Zip code celebration to be held Aug. 16 2011 - 81611. You could add a
fashion show and include male models. Also add circus things and
gymnastics and use playboy jazz.
Mall leases (standards)
Andrew said the seating in the mall with the tables works. It is an eclectic
bag of things.
Don pointed out that the different mall lease holders have different ideas.
