RE: Conditional Use - Restaurant in Mountain Chalet Lodge at
333 East Durant
DATE: November 11, 1976
This is a public hearing to consider the conditional use request by
James Wurst for a restaurant in the Mountain Chalet Lodge. The property
is zoned L -2 which allows restaurants by conditional use review. A
restaurant facility has existed in this space for numerous years, but has
not been operating for over a year.
The Planning Office feels that the operation of a restaurant in this
location is consistent with the uses in the surrounding neighborhood
which consist of tourist and public uses, i.e., Rubey and Wagner Parks,
Chart House Restaurant and numerous lodges and condominiums. Certain
details as to the proposed size of the restaurant, etc. have not been
received by us. We anticipate these items being agreeably resolved at
your hearing, and therefore recommend approval of the application.

Gentleman:
I hereby request a hearing with the commission for the purpose
of obtaining a Grant of Conditional Use, as outlined in Section
24.3.3 of the Aspen Municipal Code, for the following purpose:
I desire to open a moderate priced restaurant serving simple
home cooked dinners in a family atmosphere. This operation
would try to appeal to the young families, students and budget
minded tourists and locals. The hours of operation would be
5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday. The rest-
aurant is located in the Mountain Chalet at 333 E. Durant,
Aspen, Colorado.

PUBLIC NOTICE
Notice is hereby given that a Public Hearing will be held on
Nov. 16, 1976 at 5:15 P.M., before the Aspen Planning and Zoning
Commission in the City Council Chambers to consider a conditional
use of a restaurant in the Mt. Chalet building located at 333 E.
Durant, Aspen, CO
A copy of the application may be examined in the office of the
City /County Planner, city hall during normal working hours.
