HomeMy WebLinkAboutresolution.hpc.006-2011 RESOLUTION OF THE ASPEN HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION (HPC) PROVIDING DIRECTION TO STAFF AND MONITOR REGARDING THE VICTORIAN HOUSE ON THE PROPERTY LOCATED AT UNIT A, LOT 1, 202 N. MONARCH STREET SUBDIVISION, CITY AND TOWNSITE OF ASPEN, COLORADO RESOLUTION NO. 6, SERIES OF 2011 PARCEL ID: 2737.073.17.032 WHEREAS, the Historic Preservation Commission, hereinafter "HPC ", approved Resolution No. 21, Series of 2007, granting a Substantial Amendment to Resolution No. 7, Series of 2007 for a Certificate of Appropriateness at 202 N. Monarch Street, Lots K, L, and M, Block 78 aka Unit A, Lot 1, 202 N. Monarch Street Subdivision, City and Townsite of Aspen, Colorado; and WHEREAS, HPC Resolution No. 21, Series of 2007 included condition 5 that "A Landscape plan will be approved by Staff and monitor; and the driveway material will be agreed to by Units A and B of Lot 1, 202 North Monarch Street Subdivision, and approved by Staff and monitor prior to installation;" and WHEREAS, the applicant submitted a landscape plan and three subsequent revisions based on comments by the Staff and monitor in accordance with condition number 5; and WHEREAS, the monitor decided, based on the number of iterations, to discuss the landscape plan with and seek direction from the full HPC board during their regular meeting; and WHEREAS, the HPC, during their regular meeting on June 8, 2011, reviewed the landscape plans, material for the steps on the south elevation of the new addition, and the railing for the front porch steps and recommended by a vote of 5 -1 that the Staff and Monitor grant approval of the plans as set forth below. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: The Historic Preservation Commission recommends that Staff and monitor grant approval for the landscape plan dated June 8, 2011, the material for the steps of the new addition, and the railing for the front porch steps for the Victorian house at 202 N. Monarch Street with the following conditions: 1.Brick steps are approved for the south elevation of the new addition to access the connector piece. The brick shall match the addition. 2.Balusters and newel posts presented in Exhibit I are approved for the steps leading up to the front porch. 3.The Landscape plan dated June 8, 2011 shall be approved by the Staff and monitor with the following condition: a.
