TO: Aspen Planning and Zoning Commission
FROM: Sunny Vann, Planning Office
RE: Blake Stream Margin Review
DATE: April 4, 1980
The applicant proposed to build a four bedroom two story single family
residence on Red Butte Drive (a lot adjacent to Lot 1, Block 2, Red Butte
Subdivision). The proposed structure is within 100 feet of the Roaring Fork
River and is, therefore, subject to stream margin review.
The Engineering Department has reviewed the applicant's development plan
and has determined that the proposed structure is located outside of the 100
year floodplane. In accordance with Section 24 -6.3 of the Municipal Code of
the City of Aspen, the Engineering Department finds that the applicant has
satisfactorily completed all review criteria and therefore recommends approval
for the Blake Streat Margin Review.
In reviewing Ms. Blake's application, the Planning Office has determined that
there are no designated trails which traverse the property. While a portion of
the proposed building site may lie within the Roaring Fork greenway, impact upon
existing ecological systems is expected to be minimal. The Planning Office
therefore recommends approval without condition of the Blake Stream Margin
Review.
