Triangle Park is a 6000 sq. ft. triangular shaped park in the West End of Aspen.
It is bound on the North side by Lake Avenue, on the West Side by North Second
Street and on the South Side by Smuggler St. The park was purchased from
Dorothy Koch Shaw in 1977. In 1991 playground equipment for 3-5 year old
children was placed in the park with much public discussion both pro and con.
In 1992 the City Council found that this municipally-owned property possess
historic value and is historically important to the heritage of the City and
citizens of Aspen and was added to the 1992 Inventory of Non-Landmark
Historic Sites. On March 24, 2010, playground equipment replacement was
presented to the Historic Preservation.
