HomeMy WebLinkAboutcoa.cclc.min.062012 COMMERCIAL CORE & LODGING COMMISSION MINUTES OF JUNE 20, 2012 Vice-chair, Don Sheeley called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. Commissioners in attendance: Bill Dinsmoor, Riley Tippet, Kiki Raj.and Siam Castillo. Terry Butler and Andrew Kole were excused. Motion: Riley moved to approve the minutes of June 6th; second by Kiki. All in favor, motion carried. Kiki suggested that CCLC have a face book page and we can post our minutes there. Don said we need a business.data base which would be associated with business licenses and we can send out our minutes etc. to businesses in the core so that they are informed of what is happening in the core. Bill said we would need to know who is in charge and how would it be updated? Bill said often it is the manager who is there not the owner. Steve Barwick said Nancy Lesley has the data base. Escobar Steve said with Escobar using electricity they should be charged extra and not have to have a meter because they are very expensive. Mall Lighting Bill said we need Lacroustreeb do some kind of continuity of design. Don asked Steve if funding was available for this summer to do some kind of uplighting on the malls. Steve said yes funding is available. If it isn't over $5,000 we can just contract with Lacroustreeb. After a certain amount the funding needs approved by city council. Balloon entertainer Don said Joe Disalvo's sister said the balloon person that was on the mall soliciting was rude to everyone standing in line for Food and Wine. Steve said he would talk to the attorney and Police chief to see if there is anything that can be done. Don asked why he doesn't have a business license. Jim True said he falls under entertainment but should not be soliciting. If he is asking for money it is a violation of solicitation. You can tell him to stop and then the next option is to take him to court. Furniture in the right of way Bill mentioned the furniture at Ute City. When he was in San Francisco he saw all kinds of different innovative street furniture that was very interesting. Steve Barwick brought pictures of street furniture that might work for that area. Bill said the only problem is that you still loose parking spaces that are needed throughout town. Steve said we need to find another area where we can do diagonal parking. Jim true pointed out that we need 24 inches on the curb side and 6 feet on the sidewalk. We started four years ago and have asked for everyone to comply. Kathy said a letter was sent out to comply. Don said they should let them out this year. Jim pointed out that it was mentioned last year that all those on restaurant row needed to comply. CCLC said Walt should get another pass for this summer.
