Box 496 Aspen, CO 81611 October 9, 1978 To The Honorable Mayor, Stacey Standley, and members of the City Council of Aspen, Colorado Your possible decision to revoke the zoning of a piece of the golf course land from open space, which everyone had believed it to beito a residential building site, is incomprehensible to me. If this particular piece of land belonged to a citizen of Aspen and he wanted to change the zoning or the restrictions, I am certain you would say "no." I am in the real estate business and sold a lovely home to a family on the basis they would have a protected view across this city-owned land. I suspect other houses were built in the area of that view (or purchased) with the same reassurance I was given; "it is open space belonging to the city and will remain open." So if the city changes zoning for its own benefit that adversely affects its citizens, how can we ever believe you again? Your assurances will be a joke. What about the land across from the former Reese Henry house in the same area? Are you also going to sell that "protected view?" Sincerely., i 4', athryn K.
