I have cc'd Scott Rella from Aspen Vail Ice and Andy,Escobar to Manager. Scott Y can answer any questions about the actual ice structure. p procedures. I have attached a CAD on a possible storms to allow snow removal in the middle section of the mall. and o'eraring p attending the meeting for me and he will be able aoival sto have regarding snow ma mtenanc p answer any questions you may g and location for the leased area. We created a mock area using a similar city carving members. I would like to get feedback on this and let ski area. Regards, Ryan Chadwick Escobar Aspen 508-221-1689 1 Escobar Aspen 26 East Hyman Avenue Aspen,Colorado 81611 970.414.0524 EscobarAspen @gmail.com To the City Clerks Office, It has been brought to our attention that the city of Aspen is interested in creating a quaint outdoor eating and drinking experience for visitors and locals alike in our town during our peak winter season.Aspen is currently one of the only ski towns without an outdoor, winter venue and our ski town is the perfect place in which to create a picturesque outdoor space where spiced wine, hot apple cider, hot chocolate, coffee drinks, specialty cocktails, champagne, roasted chestnuts, waffles, and other delightful snacks are served to pedestrians walking through Hyman Mall. It would also provide a place where people and families can gather and continue the spirit of being outdoors after finishing their ski on the mountain.Escobar Aspen has experienced 2 successful summers serving food and beverages on the patio,Hyman Mall, and we would like to propose continuing this privilege during the 2012-2013 winter season with a charming ice bar, carved by Scott Rella, and serving satisfying food and drink to the town of Aspen which will contribute to the beautiful winter culture of our town. We would like to serve food and beverage on the Hyman Mall between the hours of 2pm and 10pm,daily. We propose having an ice bar that is 8 ft long x 2 ft deep, which will allow for snow removal machines to pass by on either side. The bar will be facing east so to provide a nice view to passersby heading to and from Aspen Mountain via Galena Street.Food service will be provided by a stainless steel city approved vending cart.We propose the winter lease area to be approximately 300 sq ft,which is significantly less space than our summer lease of 650 sq ft,and we will provide all seating as well as moveable heaters. All outdoor furnishing will be broken down and stored out of site after hours of operation;the ice bar will be built on casters and therefore completely mobile. In addition,we would be responsible for any snow and ice removal within the leased area in addition the ice carving would be placed in a shaded area to limit ice melt from the direct sunlight. Please see the attached rendering of how we envision the Hyman Mall for the 2012-2013 winter season,as well as a sample ice bar by Scott Rella. We are open to all suggestions on how to make our ski town a better place for everyone involved.
