◼ The following are comments shared by Kids First Advisory Board members while reviewing and
preparing the presentation for the City Council work session.
Kids First Advisory Board discussed all the slides and all short-term and long-term options.
A few items that could be highlighted.
Financial poverty level compared to the self-sufficiency rate. In the US the FPL is $25,740
for a family of 4 and in Pitkin County the self-sufficiency level for a family with 2 adults, an
infant and a preschooler, is $102,000. Also add the number of families that Kids First
currently serves.
Time line and cost of options, number of children to be served when looking at each option
Staffing issues
Review of conceptual gym drawings
Moving forward with one option and then moving forward with other options if needed.
Kids First Advisory Board will recommend an expediated process, removing barriers to a
long-term solution
Recommend to re-engage the capacity group
Staff direction to continue to pursue other community partnerships
• Kids First Advisory board directed the Kids First staff to move forward with discussion of all the options
that are currently being proposed. The recommendation would favor the gym use of partial space for
infant rooms.
