Kids First Advisory Board Minutes
Friday, September 6, 2019 – 11:30 – 1:30
Chad Schmit, Sue Way, Stefan Reveal, Rebecca Pascal, Beth Cashdan, Margaret Clement, Shirley Ritter, Cecelia Martin
DESIRED OUTCOMES:
• Approve minutes from previous meeting
Stefan moved to approve the minutes from the August meeting, Rebecca seconded, MPU
• Budget 2019-2020 Planning
There are 2 supplemental requests going forward:
• To add funding for repair/replacement of the outside stair tread for both main entrances of the
building
• For a 2nd resource teacher and this would use carry forward savings in 2019 and a supplemental
request in 2020.
• Council Work Session
• Licensed home childcare could be part of a solution for short term. Kids First could advertise and
offer incentives. We will provide information about qualifications and costs to become licensed.
• Torre toured the yellow brick building with Carrie, the Director at ELC and looked at possible
solutions for additional infant/toddler space. Shirley talked with Carrie and will \follow up with
licensing and ELC board.
• Next Steps for Capacity Planning
• Shirley updated board members on Thursday’s Lunch and Learn. Kids First staff will summarize
all the information gathered about barriers and solutions; and will report back.
• Site Visits
• October 4 - instead of the regular Kids First Advisory Board scheduled meeting. Programs to
visit are Early Learning Center, Aspen Mountain Tots, Wildwood and The Cottage. Kids First
Advisory Board would like to invite City Council members to join us on the site visits.
