MINUTES OF JUNE 5, 2013
Chairperson, Don Sheeley called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m.
Commissioners in attendance were Siam Castillo, Bill Dinsmoor, Kiki Raj and
Hana Pevny. Absent were Riley Tippet , Terry Butler and Andrew Kole.
Minutes: Siam made the motion to approve the minutes of May 15th second by
Kiki. All in favor, motion carried.
Piano
Motion: Kiki moved to approve the piano idea. The board felt that it would not
compete with the music students. They would like two pianos and they would be
given away at the end of the season. They felt that the music students would also
use them. Motion second by Hana. All in favor, motion carried.
Statement for city council: CCLC is categorically in favor of more parking in the
core. This is something that everyone should keep in mind.
Takah Sushi
Casey said the liquor board has not wanted a restauranteur on the board in the fear
that it would be favoritism to an applicant applying. Casey said you need a
restauranteur on the liquor board who understands the operations.
Caesy Coffman said the woman in Basalt who plants the flower is wonderful.
Possibly Aspen can incorporate more perennials.
Casey said people say Aspen should have more sophisticated plantings. They
spend a lot of money of annuals and there is nothing exciting. You need
perennials and annuals mixed. The city needs a landscape gardner involved with
the plantings and it could be postulated in saving money. Go take a look at Basalt
and Whole foods.
Motion: Siam moved to approve Takah Sushi; second by Kiki. All in favor, motion
carried.
Ducky derby
Chris Bendon said it is the same as last year. 10x20 tent.
Don said what you do is wonderful for our community. We are requesting three
weeks. We have also tried to invigorate a beer tent. Aspen brewery is involved
and it will be at the Rio Grande.
