TO ALL PROPERTY OWNERS AFFECTED BY THE REQUESTED ZONING OR USE VARIANCE
DESCRIBED BELCW:
Pursuant to the Official Code of Aspen of June 25, 1962, as amended, a
public hearing will be held in the Council Room, City Hall, Aspen, Colorado,
(or at such other pI ace as the meeting may be then adj ourned) to consider
an application filed with the said Board of Adjustment requesting authority
for variance from the provisions of the Zoning Ordinance, Chapter 24,
Official Code of Aspen. All persons affected by the proposed variance
are invited to appear and state their views, protests or Objections.
If you cannot appear personally at such meeting, then you are urged to
state your views by letter, particularly if you have Objection to such
variance, as the Board of Adjustment will give serious consideration to
the opinions of surrounding property owners and others affected in deciding
whether to grant or deny the request for variance.

Variance Reauested: See attached. Applicant appears to be asking for a
sign variance of 3.17 sq.ft projecting and a menu board of 2.25 sq.ft.
Total variance is 5.42 sq.ft. for signage. Applicant is located on the
second floor and not eligible for a sign. Section 24-5.10 A (2) the
aggregate sign area permitted along anyone street shall not exceed one
square foot of signage area for each three feet of linear frontage.

?ce: Signage at street level for Chelsea's Terrace Ltd. Restaurant
Dear People;
As a restaurant on the second floor, I am at a particular disadvanta~
in Aspen. There are only two other restaurants in this situation, Gordon's
and Sushi Hasha, and they each have Some frontage to the street. Some
signaee at street level is therfore important for Chelsea's Terrace.
I am proposing a sign which is attractive, informativeand straight-
forward in design. Attached are 8 copies of the design of the sign. It
would hang 12 feet from the ground, under the overhang of the cupola
extending from the stairwell at Aspen Grove, 525 E. Cooper.
I am also proposing a "European" menu box mounted on the building
just to the left of the stairway entrance. The box will be approximately
18"xl8".
I feel the sign to be essential to the enjoyment of my property
rie:ht which is enjoyed by others in my vicinity, the street level restaurants
such as: F~stern Winds, The Rocky V.ountain Chocolate Factory, CGokycMunchers,
Cooper Street, Aspen Grove Cafe, Guido's.
Displaying a sign will aid in visibility and direction which wouls
help locals and tourists locate the restaurant safely and avoid confustion
as to the upstairs location. Chelsea's Terrace cannot be seen from street
