BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS APPLICATION
SIGN CODE VARIANCE REQUEST
This variance request to the Board Of Adjustments conerns the sIze of
letters permitted by the sign code.
The applicant request a variance to the. maximum letterinQ requirement
which states that the first letter of each word cannot exceed 18" and
that the other letters in each word cannot exceed 12" in heIght
The applicant proposes lettering that contains 8 letters over 12" In
heIght, and 6 letters under 8" in height The largest letter would be 21"
in height and the smallest letter would be 6" in height
The Justification for this exception is based upon the unique conditions
of the BUildIng and the applicants logo Because of the cursory type of
lettering used In the logo it becomes necessary for several of the letters
to be larger than normally permitted in order to insure the leglbll1ty of the
smaller letters in the logo, Given the size and mass of the Building the
exterior signage demands a specific presence(within the requirement of
10 square feet with backing, or 20 square feet without backing) If a strict
interpretation of letter size and designation were to be made, the signs
would be literally unreadible and useless as well as proportIOnally
unsuitable for the Building.
Therefore, the applicant respectfully request a variance of the size of
letters permitted by the sign code to allow for a legible applicatIOn of
their established logo. The applicant does not seek larger signs than are
permitted by the sign code and agrees fully to restrict the signs to the
permitted square footage requirements as aforementioned.
A sample of the actual signs will be presented at the Board of Adjustment
hearing.

SIGN CODE YARIANCE REQUEST
This variance request to the Board Of Adjustments conerns the sIze of
letters permitted by the sign code.
The applicant request a variance to the. maximum lettering requIrement
which states that the first letter of each word cannot exceed 18" and
that the other letters in each word cannot exceed 12" in height
The applicant proposes lettering that contains 8 letters over 12" in
height, and 6 letters under 8" in height. The largest letter would be 21"
in height and the smallest letter would be 6" in height.
The justification for this exception is based upon the unique condltions
of the Building llnd the appl1cants logo Because of the cursory type of
lettering used in the logo It becomes necessllry for several of the letters
to be larger thlln normally permitted in order to insure the leglblllty of the
smaller letters in the logo, Given the size and mass of the Bulldlng the
exterior signage demands a specific presence(within the requirement of
10 square feet wlth backing, or 20 square feet without backing) If a strict
interpretlltion of letter size and designllUon were to be made, the sIgns
would be llterlllly unreadible and useless as well as proportlOnlllly
unsultab I e for the Bull di ng_
Therefore, the appl1cant respectfully request a vanance of the sIze of
letters permitted by the sign code to allow for a legible application of
their estllblished logo. The applicant does not seek lllrger signs than lire
permitted by the sign code and agrees fully to restrict the sIgns to the
permitted square footllge requirements as aforementioned

Gentlemen:
As an Aspen Square owner, we herewith respond to the notice
of hearing you mailed us.
We feel there should be no variance. To give a variance
will mean others then can request a variance based on prior
procedures. Already the proposed hotel across the street
from the Aspen Club Lodge and Aspen Square is asking for
many variances, that the hotel will use it to their advantage
and request a sign variance of sorts. Hence stop it at the
beginning and vote no variance.
