BEFORE THE CITY OF ASPEN BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
TO ALL PROPERTY OWNERS AFFECTED BY THE REQUESTED ZONING OR USE VARIANCE
DESCRIBED BELOW:
Pursuant to the Official Code of Aspen of June 25, 1962, as amended,. a
public hearing will be held in the Council Room, City Hall, Aspen, Colo-
rado, (or at such other place as the meeting may be then adjourned) to
consider an application filed with the said Board of Adjustment requesting
authority for variance from the provisions of the Zoning Ordinance, Chapter
24, Official Code of Aspen. All persons affected by the proposed variance
are invited to appear and state their views, protests or objections. If
you cannot appear personally at such meeting, then you are urged to state..
yo~views by letter, particularly if you have objection to such variance,
as the Board of Adjustment will give serious consideration to the opinions

Sirs, with this application we request permission to extend the
existing overhang on our home to the legal property line. This
variance would be an addition of approximatly 40 square feet of
overhang to the existing overhang. The additional overhang
would facilitate the construction of a partial second floor.
This would be constructed as a mansard roof, and would be used
as living space in our efficiancy apartment, increasing the total
square footage from approx. 2bC to 400. (employee housing)
The variance would also make it possible to insulate the roof
on the entire building which presently is not insulated.
Please note the additional overhang will .render the present build-
ing more symmetric allowing for continuity of construction, and
a more functional design in relation to usable floor space.
We request this variance with a plea of hardship, with regard
to the conditions and circumstances considered valid under the
guidelines of the City of Aspen's Municipal Codes, specificaly
article 2, sections 2 - 22, pages 153 - 156.
Enclosed for your inspection and consideration are;
1. A certified improvement survey of block # 72, lots G,H,and I
2. An overlay illustrating the existing overhang
a. identified as # 1
3. An overlay illustrating the proposed modification and
improvement of the existing overhang
4. One set of prints illustrating the existing floor plan and
elevations
'Ne hope this material will aid you in understanding our appeal, and
wish to present justification in detail at a hearing.
We truly believe our plea is genuine and justified, and is in keep-
ing with a minimum variance to make the most reasonable use of
land, and structure.
