BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
Gentlemen:
I understand that the Carlsons who own the duplex situated
on the southeast corner of Fourth and Pearl Court are
asking permission to build a second story on the existing
building. As a resident of the west residential area and
having lived for two years (1970 and 1971) between Third
and Fourth on Pearl Court, I would like to register an
objection to this second story on the grounds that it will
increase the density of that area entirely too much. The
duplex is used extensively for rental purposes now, and will
most certainly continue to be used that way -- the second
story would make an even more extensive rental proposition,
leading to many more cars in the area, etc.
Sincerely,
,,:_ ,fl..,,> '~-\;V'" ,;\

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Board of Adjust:rrent
Aspen, Colorado 81611
Gentlemen:
It has been brought to my attention that the Carlson House
at West Fourth Street and Pearl Court has appliad For a var-
iance to build addi tional living space on the property.
I am very much opposed to the request I s bein;)' approved as
I believe the existing property already over ext:end.f the legal
city specifications.
In addition, if allowed, the increased livin;)' space will greatly
increase the density and traffic in the area which is already
prohibitive; as it appears that there is a boarding house
situation there anyway.
Also, I think this kind of request should be carefully looked
into and investigated. I see the same kind of thing potentially
in my own block, a condition which would lower the value of
property for all of us.
Sincerely"
