The City of Aspen Board of Adjustment
Mrs. Lorraine Graves, Secretary
Ci ty of Aspen
Box V
Aspen, Colorado, 81611
Dear Mrs. Graves:
I have received the Notice of Public Hearing of Case
No. 72-l, asking for a variance to convert the house
at 215 West Hallam, into a two-family dwelling on less
than the required lot width.
I am the owner of the house acrossed the street at
200 West Hallam, and as such I do not favor granting
this variance.
I do not believe that converting this house into a
duplex, on less than the required lot area, will help
the neighborhood, or help to preserve the quality of
zoning, intended for the area.
By
Very truly yours, . /~

SOt I strongly ()bjc;ct to "!'::L(="; gC;lntinf, of
this varianc';o.
A multiple use of this particular property
h'ould sC-Jriously alter the character of ;llock
50, and \~ould reduc(~ th(~ values of the
surrounding ]Jropnrties. It would adversel)?
aff'2ct the h'elf.:1t-", of the surrounding com-
munity, ilnd especially the school, by in-
creased conjestion on tlre streets. This
hould be particularly true in \-.'inter, h'hen
snow removal is necessary. It would also
be the beginninc of il subtle deterioration
of a pleasant, quir:~t, and 3tablc~ resid(~nt_ial
area. One of the last remaining unspoiled

I 1'ope t118 Board \.;ill deny the petition.
