lights.
Bill asked how the Parks Dept. does overtime for the bike race.
Dan said we kept town clean and that was overtime and all the logos and signage
was done through the Parks Department.
Dan said there is a debriefing meeting today.
Don requested a report on the costs of the bike race.
Bill said in regards to choosing jewelry for next year's Saturday market, we are
looking at a higher grade of creativity. Siam agreed.
Don said a market he xecently attended elsewhere primarily with produce which
looked a little tired.
Bill said in the application you need to let the vendors know that our aspiration is
for you to always improve your booth and display even if you have been with us
for several years.
Bill said the jewelry needs to be more diverse and we need to have higher quality
and communicate this to jewelry applicants ahead of time.
Don suggested outside jewelers to judge the jewelry applicants.

Bill mentioned we used to have an "advisory board" to help guide us.
Bill said the woman from winter market is expected Friday this week. Debbie
Braun from the ACRA is available after 2pm . Bill is endeavoring to have
someone from council or city management present.
Bill said the intention is to make the Christkindlemarket a traditional European
style market and the German-American Chicago Company will help us to make
this happen.
Bill said this is a "for profit" market and the representative will determine what we
will need and how things can work.
Bill said Vendors will need to be well stocked for a two week market if they are to
have available product available throughout the event.
Bill believes the winter market will be complex to make happen due to lodging of
vendors and keeping product available.
Siam pointed out how having local vendors involved would make things less
complicated in regards to travel and lodging for some winter market people.
Riley attended a Snowmass merchant meeting. He felt that the businesses which
didn't like the bike race had outside problems which the bike race aggravated. He
feels there was some jealousy because the TV kept saying "Aspen" not Snowmass.
He feels there is a big disconnect between Aspen and Snowmass,
Bill feels council asking people "how did your business do that day?" is not the
best test of the impact of the race.
Don spoke of the sister city's program sending representatives to Florence and
Abetone to see if they would be interested in being sister cities with Aspen.
Don mentioned that Snowmass wanted the program to be "Aspen/Snowmass"
sister cities program and he said he would have it be "Aspen/Snowmass" because
only a 1/3 of Snowmass is involved. He has not heard back from them.
Riley mentioned the unfortunate rain during the Jazz Fest and how Friday and
Saturday brought torrential rain.
