Subject:433 W. Bleeker - Drywell Location
Richard,
The proposed exterior drywell can be placed within 5 feet of the basement. The perforations in the bottom of the
drywell should be no higher than 2 feet below the footing grade. The bearing soils will not be adversely affected by
water from the drywell.
Don’t undermine the footing during drywell excavation.
Also, there can be no direct connection to the perimeter drain system. The screened rock and piping in the perimeter
drain can’t be connected to the screened rock in the drywell. May need to compact some less permeable soil such as ¾
inch road base between the perimeter drain and the drywell. Obviously, there will always be an indirect connection
between the two systems via the natural gravel soils underlying the site.

P.S. – Ryan may have talked to Steve Pawlak about this as I was out of the office from Dec. 19th to Jan. 15th.
