Request for InformationArchitecturalD1 Window Sizing at Dormer
Company Name Contact Name Copies NotesCc:
Question Date Required: 1/23/2019
Please reference sheet A3.0 and A5.1
The D1 windows that are to be installed in the dormer area are too tall to work with the existing roofline. There is not
enough room between the D1 window and the roof line for a header to be installed. This clearance issue affects two D1
windows in the dormer area.
Please note that FCI is proceeding with exterior framing of the dormer without a window until a alternate window is
selected.

PER FCI + GSA REVIEW IN THE FIELD, D1 WINDOWS SHALL BE ACCOMMODATED BY
THE FOLLOWING FRAMING MODIFICATIONS AS APPROVED BY JIM ROMEO:
1. INSTALL 3-1/2" LVL HEADERS
2. CUT THE LOWEST 2X PLATE
IN ADDITION, THE D1 DORMER WINDOWS (DOUBLE-HUNG) AND THE STORAGE AREA
WINDOWS (CASEMENTS) SHALL BE SWAPPED. THE D1 DOUBLE-HUNGS TO BE
RELOCATED TO THE STORAGE AREA WILL REQUIRE GOVERNORS TO RESTRICT THE
OPENING.
PROVIDE HEAT TAPE ON EXISTING ROOF BELOW THE NEW D1 DORMER WINDOW ON
TEH WEST SIDE ONLY.
