Ron LeBlanc has been hired by The City of Aspen to help Kids First with The Aspen City Council goal
to expand childcare capacity. The capacity goal has been divided into three buckets. These buckets are
defined below. These are also all in a preliminary stage and the items and or the outcomes are still being
discussed.
1. CMC, intergovernmental agreement to include an early childhood lab school.
2. Expand childcare capacity overall. This includes public education, forming partnerships,
building networks. Additionally, the Child Capacity group will begin meeting again and there
will be a focus on a Burlingame location.
3. Taxing – What are current tax loads, is there a need to change current taxing model, or to
expand, or find additional taxing.
• Staff and Board member updates:
o Shirley discussed the Aspen Citizen Survey results, our plans for the intern position, and
Pyramid training.
o Shirley will be meeting with Little Red Schoolhouse director and board to review the progress
they’ve made in the past year. Robin Sinclair has requested Colorado Shines to re-rate their
