Hopkins Avenue Aspen, Colorado 81611 RE: Victorian Square Basement TI-MEP Plan Review BG Project #9603.04 Bryan, BG Buildingworks, Inc. (BG) has been asked to respond to the MEP permit review comments completed by the City of Aspen Building Department for the Victorian Square Basement TI project in Aspen, CO. The following outlines the City’s comment followed by BG responses: City Note: What category are you using to calculate Pz? I would think that a pilates studio would be categorized as health club/aerobics room in IMC table 403.1.1 which has an occupant density of 40 per 1000 sf. This would make Pz for studio 001C = 29.24 and Pz for 001B = 22.08. This would significantly increase the overall CFM requirement. Please clarify the methodology behind your Pz calculation or revise as needed. Please provide more information regarding the exhaust rate to show that your ventilation system will be approximately balanced as required by IMC 403.1. BG Response: Occupant density based on occupant load from architectural code sheet A0.1-TI, which aligns with IMC 403.3 allowing occupant density for spaces not specifically listed to be determined by an analysis of the space. See revised ventilation schedule for updated values. From original permit documents for the building, existing exhaust fans to remain serving basement total 310 CFM. New EF-1P are 200 CFM each; 700 CFM exhaust is 90% of 780 CFM OSA. City Note: It appears you've done this ComCheck using the building area method, this must be done using the space by space method as the entire building is not a gymnasium. The SF you are using also seems higher than what I am measuring. Provide cutsheets on all fixtures highlighting NRTL listing and maximum fixture wattage. Be sure that you are using max fixtures wattage on your ComCheck rather than lamp wattage unless current limiting devices are being used (if so, they need to be shown on the electrical/lighting plan). BG Response: Lighting plans and COMcheck have been updated to reflect space by space calculation method. Cutsheets have also been provided as requested. City Note: Please fill out the owner/agent portion on both the lighting and mechanical ComCheck. BG Response: See revised COMcheck. Sincerely, Erin Pasold, PE Project Manager
