Adjourn COMMERCIAL CORE & LODGING COMMISSION MINUTES OF NOVEMBER 6, 2013 Vice-chair, Riley Tippet called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. Commissioners in attendance: Bill Dinsmoor, Terry Butler and Don Sheeley. Absent were Hanna Pevny, Siam Castillo, Kiki Raj and Fred Ayarza. Staff: Kathy Strickland, Chief Deputy Clerk MOTION: Don moved to approve the minutes of October 16th, second by Terry. All in favor, motion carried. Escobar Mike Kusiak, manager of Escobar said they would like to have the ice bar back again for this winter. They would like to get it up around Dec. 21 and down March 1 St. Dan Nelson said electricity is a problem and it is not available. Bill suggested that they use battery operated lights. Dan also said they need to keep the trash cleaned up, specifically the cigarette butts. Dan also mentioned snow removal and that Mike needs to take care of that. Mike agreed that he will look into the battery lights and take care of the snow and ice. Mike said they didn't make any money on the ice bar but it was an attraction. This year hopefully there will be more snow and they can do mounds of snow and cover it with fur to make seats for people to sit on. Last year we offered vodka and champaign. Don mentioned the Polo in Wagner Park this year and maybe Escobar could get a sponsor for the alcohol and piggy pack with the Polo. Mike also said the area will be corded off. MOTION: Rilley moved to approve Escobar's ice bar for this winter with the conditions Dan has requested to be attached to the mall lease. Motion second by Bill. All in favor, motion carried. Kathy said Escobar will need a mall lease and insurance. 1 COMMERCIAL CORE & LODGING COMMISSION MINUTES OF NOVEMBER 6 2013 12 days of Aspen Don said he feels the event is not as good as it could be. The reindeer have been eliminated. Terry agreed. She feels there is no freshness in the 12 days of Aspen. Don suggested we have the children's tree lighting the same day as the Sardy House tree lighting which is Dec. 1 st Riley said the children's tree lighting could occur at 5:30 with carolers and then everyone could proceed to the Sardy house. Terry said it will only take a few minutes to turn on the children's tree. Riley said he will contact Julie from the ACRA. Possibly at our next meeting we can invite the new special events person to get them on board with the 12 days of Aspen. Bill said he is going to Chicago to view the Winter Market. Bill said he has not heard back from Chicago. MOTION: Riley moved to adjourn; second by Don. All in favor, motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 10:00 a.m. L,L Kathleen J.
