Dear Mr. Hahn,
We offer the following responses to your letter dated June 11th, 2018:
1. Fire Sprinklers will be installed within the Starbucks tenant space. The note on the Cover sheet
has been revised as requested. Fire Sprinkler system shop drawings, bearing appropriate stamps, will
be completed by the installing contractor and submitted to you for review and approval.
2. An unprotected copy of both the Structural Verification Letter and Sheet K-1.0, Equipment
Plan, accompany this letter as requested.
3. The Common Path of Egress Travel shown on 2/A-0.1 has been revised in a rectilinear path as
requested. The most remote point being the wall in front of the mop sink, to the exit door is 76’-10”.
Regarding the maximum allowable distance, the Cover Sheet contained an error stating that the
maximum allowable is 75’-0”. Table 1006.2.1 for a B occupancy with occupant load less than or
equal to 30, actually allows 100 feet for the Maximum Path of Egress Travel. Therefore, the path and
distance now shown complies with this requirement.
4. The label for the required clearance at the toilet has been corrected on 2/A-0.2 as requested.
5. The label for the required clearance at the door approach has been corrected on 2/A-0.2 as
requested.
6. The exterior furniture has been revised on all sheets where shown from custom fabricated to a

Starbucks standard selection in order to be more economical. Cutsheets of these items accompany
this letter. The occasional table in question is 19” high. ICC A117.1-2009 section 902.2 exception 2,
allows for a parallel approach for surfaces that are 15” minimum and 24” maximum. The parallel
approach to the table is now shown on 1/A-0.2, centered on the table.
7. The interior lighting controls shown on Sheet E-1.0 are compliant with the 2015 IECC section
C405.2. The workroom lights are dual switched with one occupancy sensor and one vacancy sensor.
The café/back bar area lights have the capability to be reduced by at least 50% and use one occupancy
sensor and two vacancy sensors. The menu board lights are single pole switched (no time control)
using exception #4 from section C405.2.2; these lights will be operating continuously. The bathroom
lights are controlled by an occupancy sensor. Drawings reflecting these changes are included with this
letter.
8. The interior lighting COMcheck has been revised using the space by space method. The revised
COMcheck is attached.
9. The interior lighting COMcheck has been revised with the correct light fixtures and counts. Please
note that some fixture numbers in the plan and schedule are mounting and housing for lights and not
light fixtures themselves. The revised COMcheck is attached.
10. See attached HVAC calculation showing the area the dishwasher is located. The required cooling
load is 1 Ton (13,500 BTUH) and the fan coil unit is rated at 1 Ton (11,500 BTUH), based on this we
consider the system adequately sized.
11. The outside air amount for this area is increased by 140 CFM to account for required ventilation
for the two UL 710B listed cooking appliances. Revised drawing sheet M-1.0 reflecting this change
are included with this letter.
12. Detail 5/I-2100 has been revised to show the bottom edge of the mirror no more than 40” above
the floor as requested.
13. Detail 2/I-2100 has been revised to show the work surface of the diaper changing table shall be
34” maximum above the floor as requested.
