The KNIGHT® Wall Mount, engineered with Lochinvar’s exclusive SMART SYSTEM™ control and an array of other
innovative features is far ahead of any heating boiler in its class. It promises and delivers ultimate ease of installation
and maintenance. With up to 99% efficiency, low-NOx emissions and a fully modulating burner, it is the best ”green choice” for today’s
environmentally focused market.
Seven modulating/condensing stainless steel KNIGHT Wall Mount boilers are available with 55,000–399,999 Btu/hr inputs in a space-
saving wall-mounted design. All are equipped for direct-vent installation with air intake and exhaust runs up to 100 feet using PVC, CPVC,
Polypropylene or AL29-4C vent materials. This range of choices is ideal for residential or light-duty applications such as small hotels,
schools and office buildings. For higher-demand applications, up to eight KNIGHT Wall Mount units can be installed utilizing the built-in
cascading sequencer to deliver up to 3.2 million Btu/hr heating capacity.
The KNIGHT Wall Mount Boiler reflects Lochinvar’s constant commitment to providing all the options you need to serve every application.
Advanced Negative Regulation Technology
KNIGHT safely and reliably operates with supply gas pressure as low as 4 inches water column.
Negative Regulation (Neg/Reg) technology automatically adjusts fan speed to ensure the correct volume
and mix of fuel and air throughout the firing range.
Fire Tube Design
This fully welded ASME Certified stainless steel heat exchanger uses oval shaped tubes to pass heat from the products
of combustion into the water stored in the vessel. To facilitate heat transfer the tubes are manufactured with dimples
to slow the flue products and extract available latent energy. With a fire tube design the flue products are inside
tapered passage ways and the water is passed through the vessel. Since the flue products pass through tubes
and the water is circulated through a larger diameter vessel a fire tube design allows for minimal head pressure
loss through the boiler which allows the boiler to be installed easily into various hydronic applications.
Water-Backed Combustion Chamber
An outstanding feature of the fire tube design is a water backed combustion chamber. By having the combustion
chamber surrounded by water the Knight Wall Mount has more heating surface area. This larger heating surface
area allows for efficiencies up to 99%.
Fully Modulating Burner
The SMART SYSTEM allows fully modulating combustion with 5:1 turndown. The burner can fire as low as 20%
of maximum input and modulates the firing rate up to 100% as demand increases. The burner is a single
stainless steel assembly covered with woven steel mesh and fires in a 360° pattern along the entire length
of the burner. This allows the compact KNIGHT to exceed the modulation capacities of units with larger
multiple burners.

Lead-Lag Cascade
The “lead” boiler modulates with demand to capacity.
As demand increases, additional boilers fire and modulate to
capacity. This continues, with additional boilers firing and
modulating to capacity until all units are operating. Every 24
hours, the SMART SYSTEM automatically shifts the lead boiler
role to the next in the sequence, distributing lead-lag runtimes
equally.
Efficiency Optimized Cascade
This feature optimizes the modulation capabilities of the
Boiler Plant while evenly distributing run time across all
cascaded boilers. Every 24 hours the SMART SYSTEM
automatically shifts the 1st boiler on role to the next in
the sequence, distributing run time equally.
SMART SYSTEM Cascade allows 2 - 8 boilers to be sequenced.

(Factory charge for lineset = 9 oz / 266.16 g)
5/16 0.40 (11.83)
1/4 0.27 (7.98)
Units are factory charged for 15 ft (4.6 m) of 3/8” liquid line. The factory charge for 3/8” lineset 9 oz (266.16 g). When using other length
or diameter liquid lines, charge adjustments are required per the chart above.
Charging Formula:
[(Lineset oz/ft x total length) – (factory charge for lineset)] = charge adjustment
Example 1:System has 15 ft of line set using existing 1/4“ liquid line. What charge adjustment is required?
Formula: (.27 oz/ft x 15ft) – (9 oz) = (-4.95) oz.
Net result is to remove 4.95 oz of refrigerant from the system
Example 2:System has 45 ft of existing 5/16” liquid line. What is the charge adjustment?
Formula: (.40 oz/ft. x 45ft) – (9 oz.) = 9 oz.
Net result is to add 9 oz of refrigerant to the system
LONG LINE APPLICATIONS
An application is considered Long Line, when the refrigerant level in the system requires the use of accessories to maintain acceptable
refrigerant management for systems reliability. See Accessory Usage Guideline table for required accessories. Defining a system as long line
depends on the liquid line diameter, actual length of the tubing, and vertical separation between the indoor and outdoor units.
For Air Conditioner systems, the chart below shows when an application is considered Long Line.

VAPOR LINE SIZING AND COOLING CAPACITY LOSS
LONG LINE APPLICATION: An application is considered
”Long line” when the total equivalent tubing length exceeds 80
ft. (24.38 m) or when there is more than 20 ft. (6.09 m) vertical
separation between indoor and outdoor units. These applications
require additional accessories and system modifications for
reliable system operation. The maximum allowable total
equivalent length is up to 250 ft. (76.2 m). The maximum
vertical separation is 200 ft. (60.96 m) when outdoor unit is
above indoor unit, and up to 80 ft. (24.38 m) when the outdoor
unit is below the indoor unit. Refer to Accessory Usage Guideline
below for required accessories. See Longline Application
Guideline for required piping and system modifications. Also,
refer to the table below for the vapor tube diameters based on the
total length to minimize the cooling capacity loss.

Blower motor heat has been subtracted.}Sensible capacities shown are based on 80_F(27_C) entering air at the indoor coil. For sensible capacities at other than 80_F(27_C), deduct 835 Btuh(245 kW) per 1000 CFM (480 L/S) of indoor coil air for each degree below 80_F(27_C), or add 835 Btuh (245 kW) per 1000 CFM (480 L/S) of indoor coil air per degree above 80_F(27_C).** System kw is total of indoor and outdoor unit kilowatts.EWB— Entering Wet BulbNOTES:1. Detailed cooling capacities are based on indoor and outdoor unit at the same elevation per AHRI standard 210/240---2008. If additional tubing length and/or indoor unit is located above outdoor unit, a slight variation incapacity may occur.2. When the required data falls between the published data, interpolation may be performed. Extrapolation is not an acceptable practice.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION
Installation:
Openings larger than 1 bay should be framed. Raw end or hemmed edge (no flange)
plenum should terminate at the inside of the framing to allow slip-in. Diffuser is fastened
directly to the framing via c/s screws (not shown) through the sub flange. Non standard
wall thicknesses may require adjustments or spacing as required.
Blueboard may be undercut as required to accommodate the sub flange. Blue board should
be scored or beaded all around frame if necessary and plaster feathered in. A fine plaster
line at the grille border is the key to a first class installation.
Standard cores are removable through the face of the diffuser via concealed screws. Both
standard finishes - white and clear anodized - are paintable without further treatment. Black-
out construction, if ordered, should be rollered to avoid paint spray on the blackened
support components.
Opposed blade damper (#OBD) and pattern controller (#SDG-H), if required, duct mount
separately behind the diffuser.

The Squire Stainless Steel Indirect Water Heater -- with 12 models to choose
from in capacities from 30-119 gallons, we are sure to have the right size
indirect water heater to fit your application.
Squire features important enhancements that our customers will recognize and
benefit from such as a welded and passivated stainless steel tank and heat
exchanger, two-inch thick, high-density insulating foam, and best of all an
American made product built in Lebanon, Tennessee.
LASER Cut Precision
Robotic Welder
Passivated for Protection
- a new Class of Water Heater
Tank Cylinder Roller
The computer controlled tank cylinder rolling machine ensures that the 316L stainless
steel is transformed into a geometrically perfect cylinder.
Coil Winder
Straight tubes are rolled by a seven axis coil winder and turned into a precise, round
coil used in the indirect water heater to transfer the BTU’s from the heat source to the
potable water stored in the tank.
Robotic Welder
This state of the art six axis programmable robotic welder uses computer guidance to
accurately weld the stainless steel fittings to the tank.
Hydrostatic Leak Test
After welding, the tank is hydrostatically pressure tested to ensure quality
conformance.
Passivation Process
Each tank is subjected to a soaking spray of
nitric acid. This treatment washes away any
iron that was left behind during the welding
process and re-establishes the oxide level of the
stainless steel to ensure corrosion resistance.
By removing iron from the welded surfaces, the
Squire is less susceptible to corrosion brought
on by aggressive water.
Jacket and Foam
The dent resistant polypropylene jacket and
ABS caps are attached to the tank assembly,
and then high density foam is added using a
high pressure dispensing system to provide
insulation that will keep the heat where it
belongs, in the water. The result is a tank that
is jacketed and evenly foam insulated with
standby losses as low as 0.5°F per hour.Foam Insulation Process

316L Passivated Stainless Steel Tank
316L Stainless Steel material is used for the tank interior for
superior durability and long life. The rust prohibitive characteristics
of this material make it the perfect material to resist the corrosive
tendencies of domestic water. The passivation process consists
of a treatment method that enhances and increases the superior
corrosion resistance of stainless steel.
316L High Capacity Stainless Steel Coil
The Squire’s 316L Stainless Steel heating coil efficiently transfers high
volumes of BTU’s from the heat source to the domestic water with high
first hour delivery capability.
Built in the U.S.A. at Lochinvar’s World Headquarters
A 100% stainless steel indirect water heater built in the USA,
the Squire is completely assembled in Lebanon, Tennessee.

The Squire uses the power and efficiency of the
building’s heating boiler or solar array to generate
domestic hot water for showers, dishwashing, clothes
washing or any potable hot water demand. The
efficiency of the heating boiler could be as much as 20%
higher than a direct-fired tank-type water heater. So, why
not use that efficiency to “indirectly” provide hot water for
all potable applications?
By using the Squire to indirectly heat the domestic water, you
eliminate the additional gas line, electrical connections and
vent ducts needed with direct-fired tank-type water heaters.
Six Standard Models from 30 to 119 Gallons
The highest quality indirect water heater in the market also has
one of the widest ranges of gallon capacities. With 6 models
covering gallon capacities from 30 to 119 gallons the Squire is
one of the broadest lines available.
Six Solar Models from 65 to 119 Gallons
With three dual coil models for solar heating in conjunction with
a heat source and three models with a solar coil and an electric
element the Squire line of water heaters has a model to fit any
residential or light duty commercial solar application.
100% Stainless Steel Construction
Squire Water Heaters are constructed with Stainless Steel
materials that are highly resistant to corrosion that can result
from poor water quality.

Fully Welded Construction
Lochinvar utilizes state of the art, highly accurate robotic
welding equipment that results in a fully welded construction
method that requires no gaskets or mechanical sealing
methods. Gaskets and seals are the weak point of any water
storing appliance, therefore Lochinvar’s advanced design
eliminates this potential failure point.
Factory Supplied Tank Sensor (SIT and SDT only)
A tank sensor with built in temperature limit is standard
equipment on all sizes. This sensor accurately monitors the
water temperature and sends a call for heat when the tank
temperature drops below the desired setpoint. This sensor
is 100% compatible and can be directly connected with
Lochinvar’s line of KNIGHT or Cadet Heating Boilers.
T&P Relief Valve
Supplied with the unit in the carton. (shipped loose)
High Density CFC/HCFC Free Polyurethane Foam
Two inches of R-13.4 High Density Polyurethane foam yields
the lowest standby losses in the industry.
Attractive Rust Resistant Jacket
Resistant to scratches and dents, the Squire will maintain its
classic high quality appearance for years.
Limited Lifetime Warranty*
Lochinvar believes that the Squire is the best built Indirect
Water Heater on the market, we have a Limited Lifetime
warranty to prove it.
*SIT models only
Stainless Steel SIT Indirect Solar Indirect with SET Electric Back-upSolar Indirect with SDT Dual Coil
Squire Indirect Water Heaters with a single coil and
an electric element are designed to collect heat from
a solar array and transfer the collected heat into
the stored water by way of the indirect coil which is
located in the lower portion of the tank.
An electric element, which is controlled by a factory
supplied thermostat, is positioned in the top half of
the tank to ensure ample hot water even at times
when the solar array is not capable of collecting the
heat required by the DHW demand.
Squire Indirect Water Heaters with a dual coil design
have a coil in the lower portion of the tank to transfer
heat from a solar array to the water that is stored in
the tank.
An additional coil in the upper portion of the tank
will transfer heat from a back-up boiler into the
water. This will ensure that the tank has ample hot
water even at times when the solar array cannot
generate enough heat to suitably heat the tank.
