Drawing C-103 shows the existing retaining walls and stairs to be removed on the NW corner of the HHS building. We have started removing the stairs at that location as shown in the attached picture and we are concerned with the stability of the wall that will be left. How is the remaining wood wall supported? Also the location of the new concrete retaining wall, which is south of the new building looks like it is supposed to tie into this wood wall (per survey). There are no details for this condition. Please provide details for this condition. Suggestion Answer Date Answered: 10/10/2018 THE EXISTING WOOD RETAINING WALLS ARE TO REMAIN. THE EXISTING WOOD STAIR & HANDRAIL IS TO BE REMOVED. THE NEW CONCRETE RETAINING WALL IS TO BE POURED UP TO THE EXISTING WOOD RETAINING WALLS. BACKFILL AS REQUIRED. PROVIDE SILICONE-COATED, PRE-COMPRESSIBLE FOAM EXPANSION JOINT (EMSEAL SEISMIC COLORSEAL or SIMILAR) BETWEEN EXISTING & NEW RETAINING WALLS. COLOR TO MATCH ADJACENT CONCRETE RETAINING WALL. 2018.10.09 - JONATHAN WEST Prolog Manager Printed on: 10/10/2018 FCI_Integration Page 1 How is this wall supported when the adjacent wall is removed? What is the detail for this corner? Per survey, it appears that this wall abuts the new concrete wall.
