Please refer to the attached.
Per phone and email correspondence between Jonathan with Chamberlin and FCI Constructors, the following questions
have been answered:
1. Detail 3 on sheet A653 shows the trash enclosure is designed to have Type 1 and Type 2 ground face block. The
specifications and color schedule only call out one type of split face block.
- Per Jonathan, the trash enclosure should not be shown as ground face block. Construct the trash enclosure using
the type 600R split face block veneer as specified.
2. Wouldn’t we want ground face CMU at the interior of the building (not split face)? There is nothing that we can see in
the drawings that distinguishes areas of split face vs. ground face block.
- Per Jonathan, Only the decorative exterior veneer is to be split-face. All interior 8" CMU to be regular (smooth-face)
grey block.
3. We would want ground face block at locations below grade that receive waterproofing. That CMU block could be regular
old grey block since no one will see it. Please confirm for us.
- Per Jonathan, Yes. Provide 4" regular (Smooth-face) grey block at locations below grade.

Jonathan,
Two other questions related to this:
1. Wouldn’t we want ground face CMU at the interior of the building (not split face)? There is nothing that we can
see in the drawings that distinguishes areas of split face vs. ground face block. [Jonathan West] Interior block to
be 8” regular (smooth-face) grey block.
2. We would want ground face block at locations below grade that receive waterproofing. That CMU block could
be regular old grey block since no one will see it. Please confirm for us.[Jonathan West] Yes. Provide 4” regular
(smooth-face) grey block at locations below grade.
Right now, looking at the plans and specs, one would assume that it is all split face block…..[Jonathan West] Only the
decorative exterior veneer is to be split-face. All interior 8” CMU to be regular (smooth-) face grey block.
We can get this all into an RFI and get that to you tomorrow, but wanted to get these questions in front of you ASAP.
Thanks.

Subject: Aspen Ambulance CMU Type
Jonathan,
We were looking through the drawings and noticed that the elevations for the dumpster enclosure call out Ground Face
CMU Type 1 and Ground Face CMU Type 2. The finish schedule on sheet A-741 only calls out one type of block, color
600R Split Face which has been submitted and approved. I wanted to verify with you if the dumpster enclosure requires
ground face black as well as two different colors of block. Can you please confirm?
