Daniel Gartner 1 Question Date Required: 11/9/2018 Please refer to attached. Per detail A on structural sheet S-203 the gusset plate is to be 1'-4" tall by 10" wide. Midwest steel has made some of the gusset plates 9" wide in lieu of the 10" as designed. Midwest Steel has confirmed that the height of the gusset plate has been exceeded the designed. Midwest steel has also confirmed that the gusset will extend past the edge of the base plate in both the 9" in 10" dimensions. Please confirm a 9" gusset plate for these situations is acceptable. Suggestion Answer Date Answered: 11/5/2018 The 9" gusset plates will be acceptable where detailed. 11/5/18 Prolog Manager Printed on: 11/5/2018 FCI_Integration Page 1 1 Sam Meeks From:Blake Baumann <bbaumann@midweststeelworks.com> Sent:Wednesday, October 31, 2018 2:11 PM To:Sam Meeks Subject:Aspen Ambulance - Vertical Brace Question Attachments:051200.05 -- 0 Structural Steel - Shop Drawings.pdf Sam, I inadvertently made the bottom gussets on some of the vertical braces with a 9” wide gusset plate in lieu of a 10” wide gusset plate. (reference A/S203) In all of these situations, I have exceeded the 1-4 vertical dimensions but shorted the horizontal dimension. (note, currently at 9” wide gussets, the plates extend off the base plate. If a 10” wide gusset is to be used, the gusset would extend even further off the base plate.) Please confirm the 9” wide gussets at the bottom of the columns is acceptable as submitted and approved. Currently the gussets will be shop welded to the base plates with 7” of weld on each side. I have attached the returned submittal for reference. 2 Thanks, Blake Baumann bbaumann@midweststeelworks.com (402) 476-7545
