Please refer to attached.
FCI has reviewed the sectional and overhead coiling door submittals and has the following questions that require
responses for clarification:
Overhead Coiling Door Review Comments/Questions
1.) It appears that there is not enough strength in the assembly of the jamb and header at walls at coiling door 115B to
support this coiling door. The wall type is 2C which consists of a 6” metal stud wall, ½” plywood, air gap, and 4” CMU
veneer framing. Drawings show the guides for this coiling door to mount on the inside of room 115. It does not appear that
this wall assembly has the strength to support this door. Further, jamb/header details for this door, as called out on A701
and shown on A702, details 11 and 12/A702 have a note stating “metal stud header – ref. structural”, but there is no
header detail for this opening in the structural drawings. Please advise.
Sectional Door Review Comments/Questions
1.) It does not appear that there is enough room between the 12’ tall opening and the bottom of beam at interior side of
these sectional door rough openings for the door drum and the added height needed for trolley operator type. The total
height needed for these doors is 13’-5” (12’-0” + 17”) per attached shop drawings. The bottom of the beams at these
openings is at 113’-9 ½” (at W18x35 beam) and 113’-11 ½” (at W16x26 beam). Please advise if there is enough room for
the door components above the opening at these locations.
