Per the original construction douments, Stair 302 was intended to have wood treads for the finished surface. Per PR-010 the tread finish changed to polished concrete stair treads. Per request from the owner group, PR-016 was released to add abrasive stair nosings and an epoxy coating that contained an anti-slip additive. Per email correspondence between Jonathan West with Chamberlin and Sam Meeks with FCI it was confirmed that the stair treads will be finished with a smooth trowel finish semi-glass finish in lieu of polished concrete. We still want the non-slip epoxy coating as called out in PR#016. The smallest they can go is a 4” grinding disk on a hand grinder. Because the nosing has to be set before the concrete can be polished the nosing has the potential to get pretty beat up from the grinder coming into contact with it. Let us know your thoughts on their concern. Thanks Sam Meeks Engineer FCI Constructors, Inc. P.O. Box 1767 (81502) 3070 I-70 B, Bldg. A Grand Junction, CO 81504 P. (970) 434-9093 F. (970) 434-7583 C.
