Please refer to the attached drawing.
Drawing C-116 shows a second sanitary sewer line coming out of the HHS building near the front door and heading
towards the east across Doolittle Drive and into Castle Creek Road. The drawings do not include any information
regarding connections to this sewer line or any profiles for connections to this sanitary sewer line.
Please confirm that this sanitary sewer line needs to be located and connections will be made during construction.
Suggestion
Answer Date Answered: 9/4/2018
A connection to this sanitary sewer line will be needed. The sewer service should be located and the location and
elevation should be provided to RFE so that we can confirm that the service can be connected to the currently proposed
HHS sanitary sewer service.

I think that we have some positive information regarding the sanitary sewer leaving the Health & Human Services
building. We had B&R Septic out yesterday and they were able to pull a toilet in one of the restrooms and trace the
sewer out to the north side of the building. They were able to locate where it ties into the line coming out of the grease
trap (see attached drawing). It is at the edge of the concrete slab, in the temporary “Nordic” trail (northing –
1497353.85, easting – 2621750.44). It looks like the pipe is PVC back to the edge of the building (or very close), we will
get the video from B&R and forward to RFE). It seems like the elevations will work but we will have to reroute the
temporary trail route to make the tie in. Let me know what else you need from us to get the final design. As we have
mentioned, getting this finalized quickly is critical.

Rich/Mike,
Are there any plumbing as-built drawings that would show the underslab plumbing lines within the building? I have
some as-builts from the HHS building, but they do not include plumbing drawings…

Brady,
Mike conferred with our staff and relayed our problem with the line is within the slab of the building. So replacing old
line as far back as you can go without a total redesign, getting as much new in as possible, is the best we would be able
to do.
I hope that helps with the decision process.

All,
Brian is getting people onsite to locate this existing line and get more info on where it is at, elevation, etc. so we can get
that info to RFE right away. A few things I want to note to the team:
· This issue has the potential to delay our parking lot pave date. We have to get the new sewer line ran down the
loop road and over to this building tie-in area in time to pave the lot. The chances seem small that this issue is
going to affect that, but until we know routing, elevations, and final direction from RFE and owner team on the
fix to this the chance is still out there. We are working to get info to the team ASAP, but I ask that RFE and the
owner group be ready to provide quick direction once we know what is what with this issue.
· Brian has talked previously with Richard G. about the potential impacts of this issue in regards to current san
sewer design. Richard felt comfortable that this existing sewer issue would not affect the san sewer manholes,
elevations, and current sewer design at Castle Creek and the loop road. So we are still moving forward with
that work as planned over the next week or so (work started today).
We will get info over ASAP. Please advise if anyone has any further questions, comments, or concerns. Thanks.

Brian,
As we discussed on the phone, Ideally we would like to have both HHS sewer services replaced up to the edge of the
building, or to the grease trap. The HHS building has apparently been having issues with their sewer service which is
why they requested that they get replaced and connected into the new sewer main. Without having more information,
we do not know for sure whether those issues originate from the section of pipe next to the building or further down,
so it would be best to go ahead and replace the full length of these services.
Thanks,
Sean

Sean, while we were digging to find the mystery existing sewer line that services the HHS building in the area that is
shown on the plans, a couple of the guys from the County staff came and walked with us to see if they could help. They
went back and found a drawing (attached) from 1991 (I believe) showing that both sewer lines leave the building on
the north side and tie together shortly after the grease interceptor. We have not been able to locate the cleanouts for
the second line yet but we have a call into the camera / locator company to see if they can come and help us out. If we
find that it is actually built as shown, and the elevations work, can we just tie to it in the parking lot to the east of the
grease trap?
I will let you know when we can get a camera in there and get everything located.
