Daniel Gartner 1 Question Date Required: 10/17/2018 Please refer to attached. The parking lot was opened on October 8th and all signage per civil drawing C-105 had been installed. Additional parking lot signage has been requested by HHS building staff to make parking and traffic flow better. The following is a list of requests from HHS staff: - The compact parking spot lettering was installed with white striping paint. When snow is present on the asphalt, the new COMPACT markings are not visable. Please verify if new signage is acceptable in these locations or if there is a different means of displaying the compact parking space message. - Within the parking lot there are not any new ONE WAY signs to direct traffic around to the south exit. FCI has installed the (3) new ONE WAY signs per the drawings but users are still unsure that there is one exit and one entrance. Please advise on the addition of signage at the north entrance for a "ENTRANCE ONLY" or other sign stating it is a one way entrance. - The two new parking spaces directly east of the handicap stalls are being used for people that are at the HHS building all day. This does not allow for the UPS, USPS or police vehicles to park and have quick access to the building. Please advice if it acceptable to add "15 MINUTE PARKING" signs at these two locations. Suggestion Answer Date Answered: 10/22/2018 1 - "Compact Car Parking Only" signs have been added to sheet C-105 for these eight spaces (attached). 2 - RFE visited the parking lot to observe the issue with one way traffic. Our opinion is that there are sufficient "One Way" and "Wrong Way" signs, but that they are being missed by users because they are behind the construction fence. I think the additional compart car parking signs should be mounted in the asphalt between the sidewalk curb and the parking bumper. I would recommend using the attached SlowStop Rebounding Steel Parking Bollard Post for each of these signs. See the attached markup showing what we talked about (blue markups). I know we will discuss further tomorrow but we want to get these signs ordered and installed as soon as possible. Let me know what you think. Also, how and where are we going to attach the additional compact car parking signs? For the NE corner maybe we can fasten to the top or back of the wall. I don’t know if we want to core into the top of that wall at this point, we would definitely cut through the top bars. For the signs on the middle island, where do they need to be located? Are they in the asphalt or up on the sidewalk? Give me a call if you want to discuss.
