Scott Miller From: Kathy Strickland Sent: Friday, February 07, 2014 1:18 PM To: Scott Miller Subject: saturday market HI Scott: I worked with Tony and Trish on the market. They both feel Mason Morse bldg. can do their construction in the alley so that won't affect the market. There might be an issue with storm drainage in front but they can require them to do that after the market is over or before it starts if they get permits in. Aspen Core and Little Annie's has already been figured out and they are going out on the street 12 feet which still leaves me the exact amount of space I need. 602 E. Hyman is getting a "bubble" into the street so I will pull back 20 feet from the corner. They are going to require them to do their construction mitigation in the alley or on Hyman. Please let me know if this is all OK with you and sign off. I have a meeting with HYMAN people the 19th and the CCLC and we need to move forward. We were told it was due to the extreme amount of construction on our street. The market has been very successful for our business. Not only do we re-connect in a social setting with our present clients but also we have gained new customers from that event. They either buy from the market or come to see us at a later date. Therefore, the market has become an integral part of our summer income and beyond. At times, those Saturdays have proven to be the busiest of our entire week! We have been in business in the Aspen core for 47 years and there have not been many years where we have not had to deal with some construction and changes in Aspen! We suggest that we can work with the construction needs, stay on the same street and cooperate as we always have with an ever-changing playing field. Our landlord for our store location is also the company doing the construction across from us.Therefore,we contacted their manager, Lex Turumianz, and he indicated their offer of support to keep all the present retailers and vendors on Hyman Ave this year. ( Please note that they are also the landlords of Little Annie's Restaurant and have concern for their tenants) We know that the majority of the retailers on the 500 block of Hyman Ave is in full support of keeping the market on our street. Even Will Herndon of Mason and Morse has indicated his willingness to support our continued presence and offered to write a letter stating the same. Will is presently the supervisor of the construction for the real estate company's remodel. We respectfully request that the market remain in its' present location and that we continue to be part of a vital and thoroughly enjoyable Aspen activity........ We thank you for your cooperation in this. Regards, Stephan and Heather Isberian, for Isberian Rug Co. 1
