(970) 927-3600 www.helpers.solutions Conducted at: 611 South West End Unit 3 Aspen, CO 81611 Conducted for: Steve Smith steve@renovateaspen.com 970.319.0121 Prepared by: Anthony Pistono Building Inspector ( CERT# AE-19-036-BI-R-01 ) – Expires 8.7.20 ( CDPHE #20929 ) Expires 8.12.20 Helpers Disaster Restoration LLC 11 Duroux Lane Basalt, CO 81621 ( CDPHE ACF-21564 ) – Expires 10.16.2019 Background: Helpers Disaster Restoration LLC has performed limited bulk sampling for asbestos on suspect materials in the areas to disturbed during renovations. Materials were sampled to confirm or deny asbestos content. Materials are sampled using methods described in Section IV.C. of the CDPHE Regulation 8. Date of Inspection: 9.26.19 Date of Report: 9.30.19 Field Procedures and Analysis Methods: Guidelines used for the inspection were established by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the Guidance for Controlling Asbestos Containing Materials in Buildings, Office of Pesticides and Toxic Substances, DOC #560/5-85-024 and 40 CFR Part 763, Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA). Field information was organized as per the AHERA concept of Homogeneous Area. A Homogeneous Area is defined as a suspect material of similar age, appearance, function and texture. Each material was grouped together 11/07/2019 11 Duroux Lane Basalt, CO 81621 p. (970) 927-3600 www.helpers.solutions as a specific Homogeneous Area, sampled and then assessed for condition. Bulk samples were collected in a statistically random manner, described in the EPA “Pink Book” (560-5-85- 30A). Bulk samples of suspect ACM were analyzed by Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM). Scope of work: Suspect materials in the kitchen, hallway, and hallway closets were bulk sampled to confirm or deny asbestos content. Materials were sampled and inventoried for quantity, condition, and friability. Homogeneous Area Types and Sampling Requirements: Surfacing Material < 1,000 square feet – minimum 3 samples to be collected 1,000 – 5,000 square feet – minimum of 5 samples to be collected > 5,000 square feet – minimum of 7 samples Miscellaneous Material minimum of 2 samples to be collected Thermal System Insulation (TSI) minimum of 3 samples to be collected Assessment Categories: 1. Damaged or significantly damaged Thermal Systems Insulation (TSI) ACM 2. Damaged friable surfacing ACM 3. Significantly damaged friable Surfacing ACM 4. Damaged or significantly damaged friable Miscellaneous ACM 5. ACM with potential for damage 6. ACM with potential for significant damage 7. Friable ACM with low potential for damage Other- ACM not classified in the above Assessment Categories Homogeneous Areas: WS1 – 3 // wall texture ( surfacing material // work area less than 1000 square feet - minimum of 3 samples ) WE1 – 3 // wall texture ( surfacing material // work area less than 1000 square feet - minimum of 3 samples ) W1 – 2 // drywall with mudded tape seams ( miscellaneous material // minimum 2 samples ) 11/07/2019 11 Duroux Lane Basalt, CO 81621 p. (970) 927-3600 www.helpers.solutions Sample Locations: WS1 // main hallway behind painting WS2 // hall to kitchen behind outlet cover WS3 // hallway behind thermostat WE1 // pantry vacuum closet at hole – left side of closet WE2 // pantry vacuum closet at hole – right side of closet WE3 // hallway ironing board closet – back wall at nail W1 // ironing board closet at corner of back and left walls W2 // mechanical closet at left side of door jamb Conclusions: Laboratory analysis confirms that sample set WS1 – 3 contains up to 3% Chrysotile asbestos. This surfacing material at the time of inspection was in good condition and friable. There is approximately 180 square feet of this material to be removed for renovations. In current condition this material has a high potential for disturbance. Laboratory analysis confirms that sample set WE1 – 3 contains up to 4% Chrysotile asbestos. This surfacing material at the time of inspection was in good condition and friable. There is approximately 180 square feet of this material to be removed for renovations. In current condition this material has a high potential for disturbance. Laboratory analysis confirms sample set LT1 – 2 to contain up to 3% Chrysotile asbestos in the joint compound. There is approximately 360 square feet of this material present in the hallway. This material at the time of inspection was in good condition and friable. This material in its current condition has a high potential for disturbance. Materials confirmed ACM will need to be removed by a general abatement contractor in accordance with CDPHE Regulation 8, and OSHA Regulations. All materials sampled as part of a functional wall system will need to be abated per the regulations. Materials confirmed to be non-asbestos containing can be removed following general demolition procedures following OSHA standards and safe work practices. Materials sampled were collected based upon the scope of renovating these materials only. This is by no means a comprehensive building inspection. If more materials are to be affected and removed that are suspect ACM or ACBM which were not sampled - work must cease, and further sampling must occur. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. 11/07/2019 Reservoirs Environmental, Inc.
