HomeMy WebLinkAboutcoa.cclc.min.052114 COMMERCIAL CORE & LODGING COMMISSION MINUTES OF MAY 21. 2014 Vice-chair, Riley Tippet called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. In attendance were Kiki Raj and Terry Butler and Don Sheeley. Absent were Hana Pevny, Fred Ayarza, and Siam Castillo and Bill Dinsmoor. Staff. Kathy Strickland, Chief Deputy Clerk Dan Nelson, Parks MOTION: Don made the motion to approve the minutes of April 16" second by Riley. All in favor, motion carried. Bootsy Bellows Riley said Walt Harris, the previous owner had furniture that was in the sidewalk. Andrew Sandler, new owner of Bootsy Bellows said they are getting new furniture that will not go into the public right-of-way. MOTION: Don made the motion to approve Bootsy Bellows; second by Kiki. All in favor, motion carried. Square Grouper Michael Goldman said he is aware that the lease from last year was not paid. His building just sold. Michael said he doesn't know what the new owner wants to do with the building. Riley said he can approve the mall lease as long as it is paid in advanced. MOTION: Don made the motion to approve the mall lease for Square Grouper second by Riley. All in favor, motion carried. Takah Sushi Jeff Geller said he is the chef. Takah Sushi will be doing sushi lunch this summer. The dimensions are the same as last year. MOTION: Don moved to approve Takah Sushi's mall lease. Motion second by Riey. All in favor, motion carried. Don asked about the round-about and the flowers. 1 COMMERCIAL CORE & LODGING COMMISSION MINUTES OF MAY 21, 2014 Dan said Jeff Woods is working on it and he took Julie Kellns landscape architect out to the round-about to look at the site. Dan said the first delivery of flowers will be this Tuesday for the mall and core. Baskets are also being ordered. The John Denver Sanctuary will be next with flower plantings. Dan said he has all his summer employees. Dan also said the electrical is being dug in Wagner Park. The skate park and Rio Grande water is fixed and we have water to irrigate. Kathy mentioned the newspaper racks and that she and Trish Aragon and a representative from the Times went around the core and placed signs on the racks that they would be removed by June 12th. Those racks were not being used or were damaged. Kiki said we need to encourage corporate retreats in the off season in order to bring people to Aspen. Don moved to adjourn; second by Kiki.
