The C-View fireplace is an engineered fireplace system, and requires you to provide the correct vent run and air supply information to Montigo’s Engineering staff. Fresh air supply: The combustion air or fresh air for the unit may come from outside or inside of the building-check local codes before using room air as the fireplace’s fresh air supply. If the air supply will come from inside the building, the mechanical engineer or contractor must be made aware to ensure the amount of air required is available. The amount of air required to safely and efficiently run this unit has been pre-determined and must not be altered without first consulting Montigo. A vacuum safety switch located under the burners will monitor the combustion air supply pressure and will prevent the burner from igniting, or continuing to burn if the pres- sure is negative, past 0.3” wc. Flue gas vent run: The C-View fireplace system must be installed with any UL or ULc listed type B vent pipe. All clearances to this B-vent must be equivalent to the manufacture’s specifications as outlined in the installation/operation manual. The size of this B-vent was speci-fied in the approval process and cannot be reduced unless Montigo has re-evaluated your system. New technology, to meet consumer and government demands for the wise use of energy, has prompted us to manufacture many models of fireplaces which are hot, fuel and energy ef- ficient. Please be aware; temperatures over the mantel will rise above normal room temperature and walls above fireplace may be hot to touch. We recommend careful consideration be given to the effects of elevated mantel temperatures which may be in excess of product design, for example: candles, plastic or pictures. This can cause melting, deformation, discolouration or premature failure of TV and radio components. Finishing: Mantels and Surrounds Combustible mantels may safely be installed over the fireplace provided that they do not project beyond the shaded area shown in Figure 5: FIGURE 5: Combustible Mantel Clearances Section 5: Finishing (continued) Finishing With a Painted Finish If the finish for the cool pack equipped C-View will be a painted finish, refer to Figure 8. (Use of other non-certified parts will void the Montigo warranty, and may impede the operation of the fireplace). • The vent run for your C-VIEW fireplace has been reviewed by the engineering staff at Montigo and your power vent has been sized accordingly. If your vent run does not match the vent run described on page 5, Fig. 1 Unit Specifications, contact Montigo immediately. • The clearance for B-Vents is as listed by the manu- facturer of the B-Vent. Install components and fittings using the clearances specified by the B-Vent manufac- turer. • All joints must be secured as per the instructions pro- vided by the B-Vent manufacturer. • The exhaust portion of a vent termination must not be recessed in a wall cavity. • Horizontal runs must be supported by a minimum of three supports per 10 feet of venting. • Select a location for the power vent that will permit an access panel for future maintenance work. • Ensure access panel is large enough that the motor can be accessed if it ever must be removed. • The power vent can be mounted to any solid non com- bustible surface. • Anchoring bolts for the power vent should be 1/4” and rated for a minimum of 300lbs each • If suspending the power vent, some bracing mechanism should be designed to prevent any lateral movement of the equipment. • The flue gas outlet should be a louver box or termina- tion that has equivalent free air in square inches as that of the flue collar. This is a three phase system that requires the installer to supply three hot wires plus ground from the control panel to the power vent module. Connection Step 2 The control panel is supplied with 25 feet of 18 AWG/2 conductor low voltage wire that is coiled up on the side of the control pan- el. Connect these wires to a standard single pole wall switch. Do not apply any power to these wires. This wire may be replaced with a longer wire of the same gauge, type, and quality to a length of up to 1,000 feet. Connection Step 3 Connect the damper to the connection box labeled DAMPER CONNECTION (fourth box from the top of the panel’s left side). Both the damper and this box have five wires: white, black, brown, red, and green (ground). The white and black wires from the damper cable supply 24 Volts to the damper motor. Connect the white wire to the connec- tion box white wire, and the black wire to the connection box black wire. The red and brown wires from the damper cable are connected to the normally open end switch that will close when the com- bustion air damper is open: • If you have a single damper, connect the brown wire to the connection box brown wire, and connect the red wire to the connection box red wire. • If you have multiple dampers, connect all end switches in SERIES. Connect the first damper’s brown wire to the connec- tion box brown wire, then connect the first damper’s red wire to the second damper’s brown, and then connect the second damper’s red wire to the connection box red wire. The maximum total number of dampers that can be connected to a panel is five. Connection Step 5 Connect power to the wires in the connection box labeled POWER SUPPLY 208V, 15AMP (first box from the top of the panel’s left side). Page 13XG0702 - Custom C-View Fireplace Installation PRELIMINARY12/03/2018 Note: After the gas line is connected, each appliance connection, valve and valve train must be checked while under normal operating pressure with either a liquid solution, or leak detection device, to locate any source of leak. Tighten any areas where bubbling appears or where a leak is detected until bubbling stops completely or leak is no longer detected. DO NOT use a flame of any kind to test for leaks. The gas connection is located on the underside of the fireplace body. The manufacturer requires a service shut off valve located in an accessible location to isolate the fireplace’s gas supply. The gas line must be installed, and tested for leaks before finishing the C-View fireplace. Natural Gas requires a minimum inlet gas supply pressure of 5.5" wc, and a manifold pressure of 3.5" wc. Propane requires a minimum inlet gas supply pressure of 11" wc, and a manifold pressure of 10" wc. The manifold outlet pressure is set from the factory to the appropriate pressure and should be verified. The control valves have a provision to remove a 1/8 plug so that a hose barb fitting can be installed to check pressure. Bk R W Inlet Pressure Check Manifold Pressure Check FIGURE : Gas Valve Section 9: Installing the Gas Line For Your Safety - READ BEFORE LIGHTING:  Immediately call your gas supplier from a neighbour's phone. Follow the gas supplier's instructions.  If you cannot reach your gas supplier, call the Fire De- partment. C. Do not use this appliance if any part has been under water. Ensure that all connections are made as per instructions. 2. Install the correct amperage fuses into the appropriate fuse holders. 3. Power up the panel; the red light beside the fuses, and the inverter display will illuminate. 4. Turn the wall switch ON. 5. The Wall Switch Relay will light up, and the dampers will start to open. Once the dampers have fully opened, the End Switch Relay will turn on and supply power to the inverter. 6. The inverter will ramp from 0 to its factory speed, and the green RUN LED will light. 7. Check the rotation of the Power Vent; if the rotation of the Power Vent is incorrect, reverse it as follows: Reversing the Power Vent Fan • Flip the Reverse Direction switch to the other direction, no matter what the direction was when you started. • The inverter will display the decreasing speed of the fan until it reaches 0. • The inverter will pause for 15 seconds to allow the fan to safely slow down before changing directions. • The inverter will ramp from 0 to the last used speed, but in the reverse direction (indicated by a negative sign). 8. The Flue Gas Relay is activated within 10 to 15 seconds of the Power Vent being ON. If the Flue Gas Relay is not activated after 30 seconds, slowly increase the speed of the Power Vent Fan using the inverter’s UP/DOWN buttons. 9. The Smart Valve Relay will power up after the pre-purge time (60 seconds). 10. The Smart Valve Relay will supply power to the Honeywell smart valve. The HSI will glow and establish a pilot, and the flame sensor will signal the valve to supply gas to the main burner. If the air movement of the system is too erratic, the pilot may pull from the flame sensor and shut off the valve. The valve will attempt ignition twice, then enter a five minute lockout. To reset the valve, turn the wall switch off and on. There are 8 Relays in this panel that have a red LED in the bottom left corner of the transparent cube enclosure. When the red LED is illuminated, the relay is ON. R1 (Smart Valve) – Indicates the smart valve is POWERED (on the end of the linear burner track). R2 (End Switches) – Indicates the end switches are in a CLOSED position. R3 (Wall Switch) – Indicates the wall switch is turned ON. R4 (Heat Sensor) – Indicates that the heat sensor switches are CLOSED and not overheating. R5 (Flue Gas) – Indicates the flue gas proving switch is CLOSED (activated when the power vent fan produces adequate negative pressure in the vent). R6 (Air Curtain) – Indicates the air curtain fan is powered. R7 (Inverter to Power Vent) – Indicates the inverter received a signal to power up the power vent motor. R8 (P.V. Damper Open) – Indicates the power vent motor has power and will keep the damper open until it times out. CAUTION Relays R6, R7, and R8 are 110 Volt relays and cannot be changed out with any other relays Section 10: Start Up Page 15XG0702 - Custom C-View Fireplace Operation PRELIMINARY12/03/2018 MCP1-2-10-DOA Electrical Control Panel for Open Concept Custom Fireplace with Air Curtain and Damper 12/15/17 Page 3 of 4 INVERTER OPERATION INVERTER DISPLAY The inverter’s 4 digit display is used to communicate the drive’s settings to the user. It is preset by the factory to display set speed. DISPLAY OPTIONS LEDS These 3 LEDs indicate what rating is being shown on the inverter’s display. The Hz setting will display the unit’s speed, the A setting will display the unit’s current, and the V setting will display the unit’s voltage. For ease of operation, the displayed value should be left on the Hz setting. RUN AND STOP BUTTONS The wall switch performs the same function as these buttons. When the drive is running, the integrated RUN LED will be illuminated. UP/DOWN BUTTONS These buttons are used to control the speed of the power vent and cool pack fans. The inverter’s speed is preset, but may need to be adjusted slightly to meet installation parameters. Pressing either of these buttons will change the inverter’s speed setting, which will be indicated on the unit’s display. Do not adjust the speed below factory settings. DISPLAY MODE SELECTOR This button selects which option is shown on the display (Hz, A, V). For ease of operation, leave the display mode on factory settings. PRG BUTTON This button is locked by default, as it is used to program the inverter. Modification of the inverter’s programming could cause unwanted or unsafe operation of the drives and fans, as well as cause damage to electrical components. Take a tissue paper, roll it up, and light it with a match and extinguish the flame so that the paper is smoking. Hold the smoking tissue 10 inches below the upper edge of the opening and ensure that all smoke is sucked into the fireplace and up the flue. If all the smoke is not pulled up into the flue, increase the speed of the power vent until the problem is corrected. This will ensure that when the fireplace is running, all of the flue gases are being exhausted from the unit Ensure that any HVAC systems in the space will not have a negative impact on the draft of the fireplace. This fireplace will draw 100% of its combustion air from the room. INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS If the fireplace turns OFF after burning for 10-20 minutes, check the control panel’s relays to determine which safety has tripped. If the Flue Gas Relay turns OFF first, increase the speed on the power vent module. The power vent blades are less effective when the air is hot. If the Heat Sensor Relay turns off first, the flame is spilling and the heat sensor that is on the hood is opened. Increase the speed of the power vent module, wait 5 minutes for the sensor to cool down, and restart the fireplace. Also ensure there is no air moving equipment affecting the fireplace’s flame. If the inverter display shows either a current limit alarm (H001), or an overload alarm (H002), it could mean that the unit’s output is set too high. Lower the inverter’s speed setting until the alarm disappears. If an error code other than those listed above is shown on the inverter’s display, turn the fireplace OFF and wait for the post purge cycle to finish (the wall switch relay will turn off when the post-purge is complete). Disconnect power from the panel and let the inverters power down (wait for their displays to shut off), then reconnect the power and turn the fireplace ON again. If the inverter error code persists, Contact MONTIGO for assistance. The inverter’s display will illuminate when power is supplied to the unit. The inverter’s RUN LED will illuminate whenever the drive is running.
