RFI Response #2 — Sewage Ejector— Riverside Residence Page 1 ARCHITECTS RFI Response #2 - Sewage Ejector August 2,2018 Project: Riverside Residence From: Joseph Spears (S2 Architects) Issued To: Madigan&Company Copy: Below is the RFI Submitted by Koru: Hi Joseph—As we discussed,this project neglected to specify a sewer pumping vault. We have a suggestion figured out and would like to set it as below at about Grid B.5—1.75. Attached are the specifica- tions for the duplex pumps and control panel.The shop drawing for the vault will not be released until we order it. It is a 36"diameter fiberglass tube of a pre-planned fixed height with a system to cut in inflow and outflow as decided on site. At a minimum,we would like it to be 18'tall. This height would allow at the best case 85 gallons of storage(important in the case of power failure)..at the worst case(pumps were just about to start) there would only be about 40 gallons of storage before sewer backup. We can design the vault much deeper but the issue becomes excavating for it which would impact the bearing of the footer above on native soil. We tried to pick an area where there are no beam loads above and my expectation is that concrete wall could span this as a grade beam although the hole will of course be back- filled to provide some bearing. The overdig of course won't be fully 4.5'deep at the outer circle but will layback and be backfilled at least to that line. If you did need more or wider footer here,we can probably accommodate but would prefer to keep the bottom of the footer as currently shown,without any vertical steps due to water- proofing membrane. This general sketch below is what it will take to install an 18'tank. There is a trade off on specification—the deeper tank will dig more out of the footer bearing while providing more storage capacity. Less storage capacity will require less digging under the footer. The larger tank will of course cost more in materials and excavation. Please provide some guidance on the appropriate specification. We don't have much time to lose as this tank has to be set before footers can be formed and there is a lead time associated which requires ordering it this week. Response S2 Architects,AEC,and Albright&Associates: Please proceed with the double pump and 18'tall fiberglass basin. This basin will just pickup the lower level bathrooms. AEC has helped review and we feel 36"x 40"below the inlet is acceptable. Albright&Associates have reviewed the direction and would like to revise the footing as shown in the attached sketch C1.1. The exact location of the new pad footings can adjust slightly to avoid the disturbed soils,but if it gets too far from the centerline of the beam pockets let us know. Digital Interface Board (DIB) Display Features: The RK Series Displays are available factory installed or as an accessory that can be easily field installed. Installing either display is as simple as removing the factory installed removable face plate and inserting the new or upgraded display from the back side of the sub-door. Once installed, the displays enable viewing of panel information such as Elapsed Run Time Meters and Cycle Counters for each pump. Pressure Activated panels also display the current liquid level depth in inches. Incorporating a timed dosing display transforms a basic level control panel into a programmable time dose panel. Timed dosing provides capabilities such as: Pump Run Time, Pump Off Time, Override Pump Run Time, Override Pump Off Time, and more (Time Dosing functionality varies between the DDC & DIB). The RK Series Displays are constantly being improved with new features. Please consult the factory or website periodically for the most up to date available features. The RK Series displays are currently available in two versions -the Digital Display Center (DDC), and the Digital Interface Board (DIB). The DDC display utilizes a (4) four character LED display screen while the DIB incorporates a two line 16 character display screen providing a more complete read out for the user.
