Discussion items:
Ice Allocation When Facility Issues Arise:
The Aspen Ice Garden installation was delayed due to some issues with the refrigeration system.
The delay in installation causes some cancellation of programming at the Aspen Ice Garden. The
Lewis Ice Arena had some private ice scheduled. Should there be language in private ice
bookings stating ice times may be changed following our priority system in unforeseen
circumstances?
Concessions Updates:
The Request for Proposal (RFP) did not garner any bidders. The plan for concessions future is in
limbo. The team is looking into alternate options, including focusing on vending or more
solicitation and reopening the (RFP). The month of October has events every weekend, and staff
suggested a one-time opportunity to provide concessions as a fundraising opportunity for the
organization or make sure participants understand limited services are available in the facility.
Program, Project, and Facility Updates:
The Master Plan outreach will continue with the tax renewal question after the November
election. The City Manager has approved pushing the Business Plan Process ahead of schedule,
and the request for proposal will be out shortly. The facility closure is going forward, and many
projects will be occurring in the facility.
The fall programming is up and running. Day camp and afterschool programs are full with an
extensive waitlist.
Financial:
The current recovery rate is 45.5%
Action Items:
Staff recommendation on language for private ice rentals
