HomeMy WebLinkAboutresolution.council.082-23RESOLUTION #82 (Series of 2023) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO, APPROVING A REQUEST BY LIFE INTERFAITH TEAM ON UNEMPLOYMENT AND POVERTY (LIFT -UP) FOR FUNDING THE CAPITAL CAMPAIGN TO PURCHASE A WAREHOUSE AND OFFICE BUILDING. WHEREAS, there has been submitted to the City Council a request for funds in the amount of $50,000 to be used expressly for a capital campaign to purchase a warehouse and office building in Glenwood Springs to better serve the region and the entity's food distribution model; and, WHEREAS, the Aspen City Council on May 2, 2023, heard a presentation on the request from Lift -Up, which provides equitable food security for individuals and families and supports ending hunger from Parachute to Aspen; and, WHEREAS, tobacco tax dollars are collected for financing health and human services, tobacco related health issues and addiction and substance abuse education and mitigation. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO, That the City Council of the City of Aspen hereby approves the request of Lift -Up for funding to support the purchase of an existing warehouse building in Glenwood Springs in the amount of $50,000 to be paid from through tobacco tax revenue, and does hereby authorize the City Manager to complete the request as she deems appropriate pursuant to this resolution.
