I am sorry to not be able to attend the next meeting. I have drafted a few different letters to the committee, and, I am not sending them. My application is in, with the intention of bringing the artstream with five local potters, to help create a lively, diverse, arts and crafts area with incredibly high quality work and people: I feel like the committee has already accepted the idea. Maybe I am wrong. If I am mislead in my thoughts, and the group decides to limit the number of potters, then I would request to be considered to sell my own work in my own booth. I do, however, think that the airstream and the proposal is one that will bring an incredible tone and quality to the weekly event and will make it memorable to both locals and visitors. thank you for your time and help, alleghany meadows. ps. i return june 10th. ..... Please let me take this opportunity to voice my opinion on this matter. Last year, due to cimumstance beyond our control, we broke even on the market, and neither my wife nor I received a paycheck for any of the days we worked. This year, since we are being allowed to sell our accessories again, we have high hopes of turning that around. As you may know, we sell wines from other wineries in the state and, when other wineries have asked about a spot in the market, I have always offered - through Jack - to sell their wines also. Let me take a moment to try to have our situation understood. We set up at 8:00 am every Saturday; however, most People Will not taste wine until 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. The market is over at 4:00 p.m., giving us just over 3 hours to make our sales for the whole day. In addition, we drive to Grand Junction to buy other wines, which takes one person almost a whole day and $40.00 in fuel. We open a bottle of each wine for a taster and sell a case a day, with markups, in some instances, of as little as $5.00 a bottle. As you can see, this is not real profit intensive. I hope this letter does not sound like I am whining. I just want you and the CCLC to understand how precarious our Farmers Market position is. 1 have attended most CCLC meetings and have always been in favor of extending the market. I also manage a shopping center dur/ng the week and cannot stress enough how important merchant mix is the health of the market. We must be very careful when selecting or adding vendors. Duplicating vendors usually makes for weak vendors. It is my hope that the CCLC booths will help draw more people to the market by diversifying the product line up. Thank you for your time. ~ Aspen Valley Winery Katie and Patrick Leto SATURDAY,S FARMER'S MARKET MUSIC 12:00 3:00 3. Sat. June 15~ ~ T-Ray--country 4. Sat, June 22"d _ Music student quartet 5. Sat. July 6 at the Red Brick Arts bUilding in Aspen during its "GrassGames" community event. We are raffling a royal blue ET4 Vespa scooter. Tickets Will be $5 each and go on sale the beginning of June; How do I go about reserving City space to sell ticketS? We would most specifically like to sell tickets over the 4th of July weekend at the Kiosk space across from Paradise Bakery. We would like to sell tickets there from July 3-5 for as many hours as allowed. We will also be selling tickets throughout the month at the Gondola building (pending Ski Co approval), and at Aspen City Market (also pending approval). Alternative sites to sell tickets on City property are on the Mill and Galena Street malls, and at the Red Brick Arts building. I will also check with ACRA about using the actual Kiosk space to sell tickets vs. setting up a card table and selling them from the sidewalk. And, I will check with the City Parking department about where we can "park" (on its kickstand) the Vespa. Please let me know the next steps for this request. Thanks very much!
