Roll Call-Nicky Byrne, Cody Horn, Michaela Carpenter, Zach Kops, Tyler Wilkinson
Nicky motioned to approve minutes from 12-7, Tyler seconded, all approve.
Michaela: I sent an email about council salary but didn’t hear back. I can resend following this meeting.
Cody: I’m not sure this is what our demographic is truly passionate about?
Tyler: I agree with Cody that if we are choosing one issue that this is not the one issue people our age are talking about,
its housing and affordability, construction and bars and restaurants closing.
Zach: I second that Tyler. We are an advisory board so are we just putting a proposal together?
Tyler: We can come up with a proposal and bring it to City Council but we do not have designated authority.
Nicky: We can help influence legislation or help create a citizens group.
Cody: In terms of conflict of interest, Nicky is your app something we could officially partner with and launch?
Nicky: I think because we are a non-profit it could potentially work but I’m not sure.
Cody: I’m thinking 2 years down the line, what have we done? Is it worth coming up with templated letters to submit to
Council?
Tyler: We can each branch out with a certain issue.
Michaela: Torre is that all you need is a letter asking you to focus on an issue?
Torre: Yes, I think that would be the most effective. Then that kind of from letter could advise in advance of meetings
and give pre thoughts.
Cody: I can provide our group with a templated letter and that way everyone can track issues in the letter and then vote
on them and deliver to Council.
Zach: I would imagine not all conversations stop with a letter. There may be some back and forth after with council.
Tyler: If we want to be more educated on issues, what is the process to get other departments to come get us more
information.
Torre: Have these meetings and get with me and we will schedule it. I support you having an open house to meet the
next gen board, we can make that happen, but have these meeting and make them efficient.
Cody: Maybe with the open forum we don’t do that every week, but occasionally.
Torre: Have the first one and then see when you want to have the next.
Cody: I will get a templated letter for us to approve and pass on. Hopefully we can fill in the spaces and have them next
week.
Tyler: I would love to hear from APCHA on the current state of affordable housing.
Cody: Tyler I have a finger on that pulse and can fill you in, you can also contact Cindy Christensen. I can send you the
regulations. It is workforce housing not affordable housing for the most part.
Nicky: Cody can you share those resources with us via email?
Torre: I may have some resources as well.
Tyler: I have a friend that may be interested in joining us.
Torre: Tell them to get their app in ASAP.
Tyler: What do we think about doing breakfast? Do we need to do outreach?
Nicky: Maybe when we have people we want to talk to we have an organized get together with them. I love the
breakfast idea as a casual get together, we don’t advertise it at all and have that come together when it can. Continue
the group text messages.
Tyler: Maybe we subdivide the issues we are passionate about.
Cody: I will get out the form letter and we can all start doing those with the things we are passionate about.
Tyler: Will there be a process for presenting this letter to this board for review.
Cody: Circulate it before the meeting and then we can approve it get it before council and they can decide if they want
to add it to action items. We need to be patient with these things, once we start getting traction they will take us more
seriously.
