REDUCE INSTALLATION COST WITH VARIABLE FLOW TECHNOLOGY MICROMETAL FIBER BURNER FTXL can operate over a wide range of flow rates*with very low pressure drop. DELIVERS HEAT TO THE This permits installation of a"full flow"(variable primary)system eliminating the COMBUSTION CHAMBER time and materials cost of primary/secondary piping, and pumps needed to maintain flow in a water-tube boiler.Variable flow also makes FTXL more flexible at handling frequent fluctuations in the system flow rate. BAFFLES DIRECT THE *See back page for minimum and maximum flow rates by model. FLOW OF WATER FOR OPTIMAL HEAT TRANSFER SMOOTH-RUNNING, MODULATING COMBUSTION FTXL boilers have a top-mounted,micrometal fiber burner, with a blower/gas WATER ENTERS THE BOTTOM valve assembly that drives heat energy downward, through stainless steel fire AND TRAVERSES UP AND AROUND FIRE TUBES tubes, with exhaust venting through the bottom of the unit. With up to 10:1 modulation turndown, the burner automatically changes its firing rate as building heat loads vary.An FTX500 fires at its maximum 500,000 Btu/hr rate DO when heat load is highest, then gradually"turns down"to as low as 10% WNWARD FLOW OF FLU (50,000 Btu/hr)as load decreases.A modulating system runs smoothly and BASES TRANSFER HEAT efficiently, without frequent on/off cycling. WITHIN FIRE TUBES MINIMUM SUPPLY PRESSURE, INSTALLER-FRIENDLY FTXL operates with supply gas pressure as low as 4 inches water column. Negative Regulation draws gas into a pre-mix combustion system, instead of relying on utility pressure through the gas valve. The result is steady operation in low gas pressure systems or when peak demand occurs on gas supply. Automatic fan speed control fine-tunes the correct fuel/air ratio entering the burner, providing superior combustion throughout the entire operating range. 10/16/2017 ti 'PI INT ' - e, FTXL features the next generation of Lochinvar's all-in-one il SMART SYSTEM operating control with a re-designed multi-color LCD 1 t. _j interface. Match any patio decor while maintaining the look and quality of your spa cover BOTTOM VINYL Scuff resistant double-laminate vinyl with polyester weft reinforcing scrim. Mildew resistant, with - 40 degree cold crack. So tough we use it throughout our cover for extra internal reinforce- ment where it is needed most. FOAM CORES 1.5 lb Tapered 3.5" to 2.5" EPS Foam. Allows water runoff. Strong, yet light weight, making covers easy to handle and provide more than adequate insulation (R Value 12.0). Optional 21b DURA FOAM (R value 13.2). Sunstar uses only Virgin Foam to provide you with a more durable, water resistant cover. VAPOR LOCK SEAL (Foam Seal) Our Exclusive scientifically formulated plastic, ANTAEUS 2000 is far more resistant to water vapor transmission than ordinary plastics. Sunstar seals the Anteaus 2000 with state-of-the-art impulse sealing equipment. Our equipment makes a perfect seam by applying exactly the right amount of pressure, exactly the right amount of heat, and a properly timed cooling rate all automatically. There is no quality variation like you find with hand-held sealing techniques. Sunstar's perfect seam coupled with the strength of Antaeus 2000 provides you with long lasting foam cores that won't become water logged. HEAT SEAL GASKETS Our revolutionary insulating gasket seal prevents heat loss where the two cover halves fold togeth- er. They seal automatically when the cover is shut. Critical to long-term energy savings. Payback on energy savings is typically seen in less than 12 months, according to independ- ent testing. Also protects the bottom of the cover from abrasion. The Heat Seal Gaskets and design are a Sunstar innovation. SURE-LOC FASTENER SURE-LOCS are modeled after the quick-release buckles found on sports equipment and were designed specifically for spas. Each lock may be locked individually with a key, and meet ASTM Safety Standards for Locking Hardware. Made of super tough aceteal nylon, they are quickly installed with three stainless steel screws. Our fasteners are non-corrosive and color coordi- nated and provide the added safety needed around a Spa. STEEL REINFORCEMENT RECEIVED 24 gauge "C" Channel provides strong support across the center of the cover. 10/16/2017 ASPEN BUILDING DEPARTMENT ti°1-114 . Quality Spa Covers & Accessories Sunstar CoverSpecifications (page 2) DRAIN GROMMET These "low profile" grommets are another Sunstar exclusive, placed on the underside of the cover to prevent water from accumulating between the vinyl and the foam core. Made of industrial grade nylon, these non-corrosive grommets are made to not protrude, therefore they won't scratch the lip of the spa as the cover is slid off. HANDLES AND TIE-DOWN STRAPS Our handles and tie-down straps each have multiple layers of internal reinforcing. Handles are super strong and have foam padding inside for comfort and longer life. Tie-downs have reinforc- ing inside the strap and on the inside of the cover at both the top and bottom seams. ZIPPER We use a commercial grade nylon zipper, a true YKK#7 size. Our zippers are covered with a vinyl protective flap along the entire length of the zipper. The zipper pull is then neatly tucked away in its own pocket. This not only protects the zipper, but is much more attractive than exposed zippers. HINGE Our tough ` n sturdy hinge has four layers of vinyl for added strength to this high stress area. Our hinge was put to the test when a sunstar cover was hooked up to an automatic arm with a popu- lar cover lift. The cover was lifted on and off over 6000 times with no wear to the hinge dis- cernable! THREAD, SEWING, AND FINISHING We use a cotton-wound polyester thread (for strength and good looks). Treated with UV and Mildew inhibitors. In over 20 years we've never experienced thread failure. We take special pride in the quality of our sewing and finishing. You won't find sloppy backstitching, tie offs, or raw edges on a Sunstar cover. The professional sewing of our covers is still supervised by our original experts in sewing construction. WARRANTY AND CUSTOMER SERVICE Sunstar offers a full 3-year non-prorated warranty. Flexible, efficient. We take pride that we have a loyal following base on our longlasting reputation for fair dealing. RECEIVED 10/16/2017 ASPEN BUILDING DEPARTMENT Safety Cover Fact Sheet Sunstar AST M SafetyStandards What are ASTM standards? ASTM (American Society of Testing and Materials) has developed a standard for Pool & Spa Covers. This Standard, ASTM F 1346-91, establishes three cover classifications: 1) Power Safety Covers, typically found on swimming pools; 2) Manual Safety Covers. Such as the Sunstar SPA TOPTM ; and 3) Other Covers, which do not serve as a barrier for children under the age of five and do not qualify as a safety cover. Can only Safety Covers Qualify under ASTM? Non-safety covers can meet ASTM standards if they comply with the labeling requirements. To qualify as a safety cover you must comply with the specific requirements of the Standard which include performance tests and labeling require- ments. Covers must be able to pass tests such as Static Load Tests for weight support; Perimeter Deflection Tests for entry or entrapment between the cover and the side of the pool; and Surface Drainage Tests to see if a dangerous amount of rain could collect on the cover's surface. There are also requirements to include labeling in consumer infor- mation (such as the warranty), and on the cover itself. Labeling must contain the proper warnings (as described by the Standard), and identify the product as a safety cover. How can you tell if a cover meets ASTM Safety Cover Standards? The required wording must appear in packaging and consumer information on the cover stating that it meets ASTM Safety Cover standards. If it doesn't say "safety", then it only meets non-safety cover standards. In order to legitimately bear a safety label, a cover must be able to pass the tests that satisfy the performance standards of ASTM F 1346-91. Four questions you should ask: 1. Does the cover meet the ASTM Standards for a Safety Cover? Sunstar covers meet or exceed the ASTM Standards for a Manual Safety Cover. 2. Has the cover been tested by an independent lab for compliance with the ASTM Safety Cover Standard? All Sunstar covers, our standard one and a half pound density Tuf FoamTM, and our two pound density Dura Foam models, have been tested by Underwriters Laboratories independent lab. UL has certified with our classification Number 4Z00, that all Sunstar covers meet or exceed the ASTM Standards for Safety Covers. 3. Will this Cover satisfy my local Building Code requirements for a safety cover? Some cities are adopting the ASTM Standard into their codes so of course, Sunstar covers are accepted. In other areas, building inspectors have approved a variance when the Sunstar cover is used. We can provide inspectors with third-party UL documentation demonstrating that the SPA TOP meets safety requirements and complies with the ASTM Standard. 4. Is meeting ASTM Safety Cover Standards enough? Product liability is an important issue. That's why Sunstar has acquired written confirmation that our safety claims, based on the ASTM Standards, are approved by our liability insur- ance carrier.
