Tree Removal Permit#2017-024
On April 24,2017, Ben Carlsen,Aspen City Forester,performed an onsite inspection of the property
located at 36 Ute Place. The applicant is requesting a tree removal/drip line excavation permit for
one Colorado blue spruce tree.
The tree requested for removal has been assigned a value using a standard formula developed for all trees
found within the City of Aspen.The formula is as follows: Value=$42.00(p)(D/2)^2,where D=diameter
of the tree at breast height. The following will describe the above-mentioned tree and the appropriate
measures to be taken:
• 12"DBH Colorado blue spruce—This tree is located on the west side of the house. The tree was
planted in a bed that is approximately 6' from the house and retaining wall. The tree is in good
health. The building envelope has recently been altered and there will be construction activities
encroaching on this spruce. This tree may be removed for full mitigation of$4,747.68.
Full mitigation for this permit is $4,747.68. The applicant has submitted landscape plan for$1,537.00.
The remaining$3,210.68 is due to the Parks Department cash-in-lieu prior to the release of this permit.

We propose to provide and plant 12ft foot Fat Albert Spruce in a location to be determined but
accessible with a skid steer loader for$1.537.00 Ea. •
We will provide the soil amendment,equipment, manpower and any tree staking required. •
We will provide a one year warranty on the trees.
Water is to provided by others for our use in the planting process.
